Yes, and some people also like eating metal, so a robot made of moldy cheese isn't really more likely to be eaten than a normal robot.

And half-robot people in Ghost in the Shell can pretty much do anything they normally would, except they live longer, don't eat, and are a hell of a lot more athletic. :/
If it was becoming just like, a robot, you wouldn't really become anything. Robots are just metal. You'd just get torn up and a robot would be made to look like you. Now if you became a cyborg or something, that would be different. Not much different, but a bit different.
