Every time you see a "<MSG" or a "<MS2" or a "<MS3" that means it's dialogue.

As for translating the things like menu items, those are also in .tsc files but are located in the /data/ folder instead. (ArmsItem.tsc, Credit.tsc, Head.tsc, StageSelect.tsc) The stuff that says "<NOD" is what pauses the dialogue in the box until the player pushes a button. Try to keep the lines of dialogue to the same length as the original, and don't have more than three lines of dialogue for every "<NOD".
Perhaps you should have also mentioned the special meaning of the = signs.

In short: leave the equals signs in place.

You can still write = with <TUR or something.

That was not his point, dear cardboardmouse.
Since nobody explained that equals signs turn into circles to the guy who was doing a translation, he may have accidentally removed all the equals signs, thus rendering the game odd. Celtic was just warning him against doing that.

Edited cave story, but editing characters, no good...

Umm... excuse me, anyone who might be on at the time... i have a problem...

I use Sue's Workshop that came with cavestory Deluxe, and it works just fine besides having no sprite list, and i've been making a pretty nice scenery and dialogue twist to the original game...

I just downloaded and started to use CaveEditor yesterday, to mess with the characters, but whenever i try to save how they look, it gives me a save error...

Does anyone who might have used that program have any idea how to fix this?
Or is this a fairly unique issue nobody's had a problem with so far...?

:(

Rule #1: You cannot use Sue's Workshop and Cave Editor on the same mod.
Merging with quick answers thread.. Please use that for any questions from now on.

Check to see if the files are marked read-only.
CE can't save if they are.
Right-click > Properties > Uncheck read-only.

Also search before asking. :3

Whether or not Sue's Workshop is deleted is irrelevant, but you do have to make sure the files are not set to read-only as DB says. CE Claims it can do this but sometimes it doesn't work, so just select the folder and unset read-only on all files and subfolders manually is what I'd recommend.

Anyone happen to know what tile 0x0100 is? It's checked for in the player movement code, and I'd like to know what it is.

So, any way to make a rain entity? (Like, one that moves southeast or southwest and makes a certain sound on creation?)
And also a rain generator? It would be very helpful for a few scenes in Misery Story.

Depends.
You could utilize the water drip from the first cave, or do something like what gir did and use the special water bg.
A real rain generator, though, you will not be able to do unless you feel like A) crashing your system or B) forcing someone to create a particle system.

I recon you could make a simple sprite and then just copy/paste it to the whole map. Or do it Noxid's way - idiotically impossible assembly scripting.
