• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

  • I'm hoping to have the first Alpha release of Plus Porter out in a couple of days. It won't have all the the features yet for making ports, but I'm planning for it to be able to have all of its functionality of applying ports done.
Hey there, I just wanted to say thank you for commenting on the blog post. Today, one of the bureaucrats came back and changed my user rights, so I guess I don't need an adoption request anymore. Still, thanks for your time.

Yeah, I saw, congratulations! You're most certainly welcome!

It's canon that the wiki is the most unreliable source of information
I mean even we're better than it and we're a bunch of freaks who can't discuss anything remotely important

I wonder if it's better that were freaks that can't discuss anything important though...

Okay, how did I miss this comment? Anyway, yeah, that was pretty sad. What was even more sad was that it took the admins about two months to get around to taking care of it. If it's any consolation, look at the name of the user who created that page. fastpager200. You can see how smart he is just by looking at <a href='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/index.php?/topic/4853-fasts-questions/' class='bbc_url' title=''>some</a> <a href='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/index.php?/topic/4854-to-hax-or-not-to-hax/' class='bbc_url' title=''>of</a> the posts he made here before he got banned.

Also, for those of you who didn't notice, the Cave Story wiki has actually been doing significantly better since RSK started editing.
*sigh*... Two years since I decided to revive Curly Brace's Story, and still no demo. Well, at least I've got other stuff done since then.

I don't feel like I'm procrastinating as badly as I could be any more.

Two years though, sounds like WTF and K;SS.

It defines a few properties for the mod within the challenge menu.

Line 1: I'm not sure what that's for (I suspect it might stand for "with Cave Editor," but I'm not sure), so I just keep it like all the others.
Line 2: Set it as 1 if you want to be able to load saves, and set it as -1 if the mod is a time challenge.
Line 3: The name of the mod
Line 4: A brief description of the mod

See <a href='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/index.php?/statuses/user/2705-haydenstudios/?status_id=31083' class='bbc_url' title=''>this earlier status update</a> on how this gets set up in Plus Porter.

Just gonna post this here for posterity. I had line 2 wrong. If it's -1, then it's a time challenge. If it's not, then the number equals which set of save slots the mod wants to use, with set 0 being the set that the default story mode uses.
As of right now, the option you see highlighted in the screenshot below is pretty much fully functional.
After lurking a little bit in here i found out i put a comment about a "Mod" of yours, IT WAS NOT ME, my computer was on and Bahamut happened to use my account to comment that.

    I see.

Well anyway, thanks for taking Bahamut off our hands... Again... I myself never had that much trouble getting along with him, but he didn't jive too well with the community as a whole, so so you have our thanks.

Well, i should stop being know as "bahamut's brother" actually.
So for those of you who didn't properly infer, I'm afraid that CBSR has gone wayside once again because of school work. Fortunately, this time is with a project that I'm having a blast working on. And that is PlusPorter. Also, at least this time the project keeping me busy is one that you guys will benefit from when it's done! Anyway, I'm not a super experienced Java programmer, so I'm not developing it anywhere near as quickly as I hoped I would. My new deadline is November 23. As of posting this, you can open up a CS+ directory, and the program does some light verification to ensure that it's legitimate. This then unlocks the ability to start a new port. As of right now you can set some basic properties of your mod. I've just now finished the properties window. I had a huge learning curve when making it, so there's a possibility that production might speed up, but it also might not. The application can't save any information on your hard drive yet, though.

Aw, Pigaro beat me to it first. But yeah, here's an early happy birthday from me in case I forget to tell you tomorrow! I hope it goes well.

Thanks! Nothing wrong with not being first, the more the merrier!
Happy Birthday! I know it's tomorrow, but you've already changed your profile picture, and that NEVER happens (once before this iirc). Anyway, congrats!
Due to a number hurdles I've run into these past 2 weeks, as well as one that I'm right now having trouble getting over, Plus Porter will definitely NOT be ready even for an Alpha release by tomorrow.
8 years ago today, I kept repeating excitedly to myself "8days8days8days8days8days8days8days8days8days" throughout the day. I remember playing through Raiden X on our Windows 98 computer which held up okay for computer standards at the time, and when I beat it and was asked to enter my name, I put "8 days". I used to always be so excited for my birthday. I could hardly wait. When I was younger than I am now, I couldn't bear waiting to grow older. The previous 2 years, the only aspect in which I was excited for my birthday was just to get a few days to catch my breath (I'm homeschooled, so we can do things like getting our birthdays off. In my case, my birthday and a few days or the weekend surrounding it counts as our Fall break.) from the agonizingly, horrifically, and insanely busy school schedule I had during this time last year and the year before last (especially last year). Now that my school schedule this year isn't all that time consuming, I'm practically indifferent to my birthday coming in 8 days. What's happened to me?!?! D:

What you truly wish for now, can't be granted by a repeat of what made you so happy eight years ago...
You may also be more conscious of what you have, and who you are; and have established expectations that muddle the pure, first time experience. You may be content already, and the things you want to get, feel somewhat superficial on some level or seem unreachable.

That being said... life is full of surprises and amazing possibilities. If you have people around you that deeply know you, and you are able to connect to them strongly; then having a party with them to celebrate your life will undoubtably bring out joy and anticipation!
Though there are other simple ways to bring back that "8days" feeling... But, they require you to leave your comfort zone. Doing things, you would never normally do... Like parachuting out of a plane, or going on a blind-date (xD)...

In the end, it depends on who you are and what you want; that will determine what brings out that child-like joy.
My advice? Plan something, do something... With 8 days, there is still time to come up with an idea <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/grin2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' /> Ask family, friends... "I want to do something fun and different for my birthday... Do you have any ideas?? <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/grin2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />"

Lol, I'm okay guys. I'm pretty content with my life, and since I got my driver's license have been socializing more with my irl friends. In fact, I'll probably be seeing one of them tomorrow, and I've been looking forward to that. It's just my birthday in particular that I've been increasingly indifferent about. I was trying to be humorous but I guess my post came out as serious.
Now that I have finished my computer programming course, my final assignment is to make some application that does something. I have decided that I will write an application that will facilitate porting mods to Cave Story+, as well as make it able to work with partially edited sprite sheets without illegally distributing NICALiS' graphics. The only thing I need this community's help with is coming up with a name for it. Should I call it CS Porter? CS+ Porter? I'd be open to ideas. And for those of you wondering, I'm shooting to have it done in two weeks.
Finally finished all the documentation on that project I started 2 years ago. With that out of the way, I should now have much less hindering me from working on CBSR.

For those of you interested in seeing a more detailed version...

Oh my gosh... FINALLY, after 2 years, I've finished everything related to a project that really should have taken me more like 4 months. It's all thanks to my horrifically insane and time-consuming freshman and sophomore years of high school that it suffered delay after delay. But finally, FINALLY, I just got all the documentation done. I didn't expect the documentation to take that long...

Seriously, my mind is in such denial that it took me 2 years. Time froze in my mind when that project got its first delay. This project has been pecking at my conscience this whole time, staring me in the face when I had to spend all this time extra time studying... I'm in denial that August 2011 was over 2 years ago. The beginning of that project seems recent to me because time has been frozen in my mind. The last release we saw of WTF? Story feels recent to me because time has been frozen in my mind. My joining here seems recent to me because time has been frozen in my mind these past 2 years. The entire year 2012 felt like 6 months to me. Whenever people have been alluding to December 2011 and saying it feels like a long time ago, I've just just nodded, pretending to agree with them, when in truth it seems recent to me because time has been frozen in my mind these past 2 years. Dinny, Rubyyoshi, Ultimate Nerd-Meister, CookedChef, Mosiac, and Kanpachi all feel to me like they're still new members because time has been frozen in my mind. I sincerely hope that time will unfreeze for me now that I'm done with this project, and that the rest of my life won't seem even shorter than it should.

Anyway... Let's hope I can really start cracking down on Curly Brace's Story Revived now! I would like to thank everyone who has been waiting so patiently.
