It's been a little bit since I've watched the end of CaveStory so I may have forgotten.

In case you haven't noticed, there's a great big mountain on the surface of the island, which contains the Throne Room and the Doctor's lab and stuff. The rocks are falling off of the mountain, bouncing off various ledges, and falling where you see them in the game.

At least, that's my theory.

That would work, but the rocks are coming straight down.

No, it does not. If the core exploded and the rocks came down that fast then quote would be dead from the explosion.
