As I said before, the stucco on the ceiling feels 10x better.

Anyway, yes. On-topic I suppose...but honestly, there isn't much to say about your first time other than "It was awesome" or something generic like that.

My first time: I obviously did everything wrong. Got machine gun, got the first booster, Curly died, etc.

My first time, I had already heard a bit about the game, so I knew about the spur and the booster thing. When I first started playing, the main thing that annoyed me was the unskippable cutscenes. Especially the one before fighting Enraged Toroko, which took me five tries.
I had trouble with the platforming and fell down into the pits in Grasstown a lot so I decided to get the machine gun anyway. Being able to fly made the game a lot less annoying.

Anyway, I'm currently stuck in Hell. I've gotten to Ballos several times but I always die on the first form very quickly.
