• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

Everyone rate this thread 5 stars nao.

It really bugs me that it's only rated 4 stars other mods that aren't nearly as good are rated 5...

It might be because this epic thread gets tons of ratings and the other ones just get one good rating.

Does anyone know where he got the facettes? Or did he do them himself? 'Cause they're pretty a dang awesome!

It looks like he used more than the 24 colors supported by CS. Do you know if he did? Also, is there a way to take a bitmap and change it into only 24 colors?

It comes in colours....

You can save a Cave Story image file {They're really BMPs renamed as PBMs} as a 16 colour BMP {Which Cave Story normally uses}, a 256 colour BMP, or a 24-bit BMP and then rename it to PBM, and either remove the (C)Pixel requirement from the EXE or hex it back onto the end of the modified image file.
24-bit supports the most colours and is most likely what he used. It'll work just fine, but end up being fatter in size.

Amazing!

Switching to the violet girl is incredible! As well as the scene just before the change; that was really spooky. The scene after getting the Magma Driver has a problem (I entered using the left door, and the girl came from the right). Still, hardly an issue.

Awesome sequence after finding the Mansion Key. I just eat up those kinds of events - when you're still in control during a trigger.

Everything is very well thought out (especially the road area, and the hidden blocks - physical encumbrance from water has been hacked to have less of an effect, huh?), though a lot of the platforming seems based off of trying to jump off of the very edge of ledges, usually with a tile directly above. I died the first time trying to get the Magma Driver - I think a save point would be better placed not where the Driver is, but in the Detention Center, so players don't need to fight the Enigma again if that happens. - Never mind, Xaser addressed that in post #254. (No strikethrough BBCode on vBulletin?) Nice scene-skipping, too (though it triggered that when I first reached the Archives teleporter even the very first time, unless that was intended; I'd imagine that it would be used after the first).

Some minor tweaks: "... her idea explains all this mess pretty well." Then the "But... I..." from Kate right after would be better with the more panicked face instead of the casual smiling one.

But, seeing 1.0 is almost exactly a year old... :)

We should start a petition for Xaser to finish the mod.

Xaser, please work on Schizm! It was a great inspiration to me as a newbie modder. I liked it so much!

anyways, you don't have to petition something that's already happening....
I hope.

Hmm... no need for a petition, I'd say. I have CaveEditor open right now. :D

It's good to hear some of you are still enjoying the mod and looking forward to it! Don't worry, it's not dead, though all of you regulars who remember when I started the mod will probably know that I like to take my time on things... well, it's better than getting burned out and giving up, at any rate.

@Keron: Thanks for the feedback, there! Good to hear you enjoyed it. :)

The scene on re-entering the Detention center is a bit odd if you pick the other door, but I decided just to leave it that way so I wouldn't have to split up the scene into two bits. Though I may change it anyway.

The first sentence actually reads "...her idea *does* explain all this mess pretty well." Though I'm curious -- I have the asterisks for emphasis, but somehow does this prevent the word "does" from actually showing up in-game? Haven't noticed myself, and I'm too buried in another section of the game to check just yet. :p

Changed the second bit, though... but I think you mean Morgan. Kate's the strange violet one.

Anyhow, I don't want to spoil too much of what I'm working on yet, though I'll share bits and pieces of news every once in a while, for justice and whatnot.
