Ha ha, yeah, kinda. It's actually not a symbol of fire, but it's from an anime called Fairy Tail. It's a guild's symbol that's supposed to look like a fairy with a tail (but in that world, no one has ever seen a fairy, so I guess that is why it is imagined to look like a sort of bird?). But I did edit the pic to give it a frozen look. The frozen part was intentional, but having it look like fire was more of an accident. I just chose it because I like the anime and I wanted to change my avatar. <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':p' />
Yeah, Um... Kingdom Hearts mod is kinda in progress.... I'm doing Dive to the Heart.... Thought I'd let you know...
I'm increasing my remixing skills and overall musical production skills by remixing K-pop... but I think I'm the only one here who likes K-pop, haha. I'm talking about Girls' Generation, SHINee, T-ara, etc. But anyway, that's what I'm doing with my life at this moment. Being more Cave Story related, I can make much higher quality remixes now than I could when I was a part of CSRP2. Maybe some day I'll lead a CSRP3, or at least be part of one. <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
    Determination!

Ha ha, yeah. I'm basically just sick of getting nowhere with my fan games, nor my indie RPG. The "determination" is referring to me figuring out how I can simplify my video game engine and my various projects that will use the engine, while still keeping the necessities, not killing all the fun stuff in the process. I just realized that what I was trying to do simply was not realistic for one person, at all. What I had in mind requires a small team of experienced people with various college degrees for art, sound design, etc.

So I'm rethinking some stuff and I'll be going at it from a different angle. If all else fails, I will drop the 3D aspect (but that is my last resort; it would change a lot and very drastically). If I went 2D, things would be so easy.

So anyway, yes, deliberation! Ha ha.

Um, I forgot to tell you this but I started working on the model but it didn't work out well..... So sorry for the wait but I'm working on the mod now

Apparently I've been off the forums for longer than I thought... Anyway, even if you never end up using the stuff I did for you, it's not too big of a deal. I had fun making Sora and it was graphics experience for me.
Completing the world map of ACSC tonight. I find it easier to place all of the characters, item upgrades, areas, ect., and lay it all out as a map of the world. After doing this, it will be easier to decide my resources, and to knock out the models for world areas and for objects within the world. I'm quite excited!

Well... this is one of those fun tearing-out-hair parts where I get to deal with some technical 3D stuff on how the world actually gets built, saved, loaded, etc. The world needs to be able to hold some pretty complex data while remaining quick on loading, so I have to figure out what data storage methods are the most efficient and what will be flexible enough to stay powerful enough to make the world that I have mapped out.

I may decide to simplify some things, which "might" allow for a very minimal demo in a few months. But I don't want to simplify the game if it's going to end up making it less enjoyable. All I can say is that a demo will come, but it will come when it's ready.

It was a quickie, and I haven't drawn many cats in my lifetime, so you're probably right. I'll just pretend like it was "artistic choice" (this is secretly an excuse for being too lazy to change it.. shhh!).
Oh hey I always wondered something about SBBU, and the thought just resurfaced so I thought I'd ask you now. When you made the mini game Koopa Skies 2, how did you test it? Did you temporarily set the controls to control both players, have a willing partner, or did you have massive skills and control both Mario and Luigi at the same time in testing sessions?
    FrozenFire
    FrozenFire
That was a long time ago, but I remember playing both players at once to test (didn't think to set both controls as the same... I wasn't the brightest back then), and I also got testing help from friends when I could, but I really didn't do a good job of making sure difficulties were balanced. If it ended up being good, then I just got lucky, ha ha. <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':p' />
Just checking in real quick, then I'm gonna disappear for a bit again... most likely anyway. Still working toward getting ACSC done; I haven't dropped the project by any means. 3D modeling is picking up and my stuff is starting to look good, finally! ^w^
My cute Curly head is a success. :3

<img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':p' /> Probably because the only thing that is 3D is the head with the eyes and mouth texture. Besides that, there is no shading on the head, so it's hard to tell that it's 3D.

The head was the hard part because of all the requirements it had to meet. The requirements were these: Needed to be usable for both male and female, both for adults and children (scaling helps achieve this goal), needed to allow for uv mapping that can unwrap to allow the user to draw on it to make their own designs (this is for future projects, not for my Cave Story projects), needed to allow for fairly detailed emotions of all kinds that can be easily recognized, needed to allow for a dynamically animated mouth and eyes, needed to allow for highly customizable hairstyles, needed to be fairly low poly, needed to be able to pull of a realistic enough character to be taken seriously for more dramatic storylines, etc.

Needless to say, it took me a while to get a head I liked that met all of the requirements (somewhere between 3-4 months!), so that's why I was so happy about this success, because it's a pretty big deal with all things considered, and it means that A Cave Story Christmas should actually be done by this Christmas. To be honest, I was a little worried that the character creation phase would take too long, but now I'm pretty confident that things will go much faster. ^^,

Sad that Teh Core had to be banned. That was a real nice project going there that we will probably never see completed. Oh well, what must be done must be done.

Completely agree, I'm bummed that he's banned too.
Hey, I wanted to tell you that although my mod is on hold due to my computer, I'm going to restart work on it in a week. Just because of homework, I have no time for it until next weekend so I will keep you up to date. Also, considering this, I have two more mod ideas, a Kingdom Hearts mod which there was talking about it but it never got off the ground. And if you have heard of Gravity Falls, then yeah, a mod for that, possibly, it's storyline is most likely the same as the show, to some extent.

Oh ok, well I don't know if this makes it any easier but here:

I just kept it regular size and made the background black.

Well the mac I tried to use didn't work, I don't know why actually. I don't think it was the computer itself. First when I took a clean copy of Cave Story, I took it into Cave Editor, but when I clicked no Pixel requirement and file as *.png, the file became a mix of .png, .bmp, and .pbm. I don't understand why though, so if you have a idea of what wrong, or somebody I could ask, that would be great! Also, love the Curly head!
Chibi chibi chibi, so cute, but can I make you serious and mature? Yes, I shall give you a big sword and a scarred face, and you will cause destruction and make manly grunts, oh chibi one

I like your design for the Starfire, by the way. Perhaps you should add a white design on it to make it look cooler?

Red, white, and blue?... Somehow I feel like that will come across a bit cheesy, with the all-American-like colors. But I can try it. Or maybe I could just make it red and white. I think the red and blue don't want to go together all too well.

Thanks for the suggestion. And it's probably best the thread doesn't get bumped until I've got past the character design stage, so thanks for not doing it. Once I pass that stage, things will go much faster. I've found that I can model pretty much anything, but making character faces is giving me a bit of trouble.

I released my game then took it down. Liammilly said it was bad, and missed lot's of things. And yes, I agree, I rushed it, I wanted it done, and I wanted it done quickly. Expect it by tomorrow night, or Sunday morning.

I saw your thread for your mod. Bummer about the laptop. I hope you can recover your data. I know how sad it can be to lose a project that you've been working hard on. It has happened to me once in the past with a very complicated personal breakthrough in programming (lost it due to my brother deleting it by accident, not by having a HDD failure), and since then I try to back up all my projects on USB. All hard drives will fail after a while, and laptop hard drives tend to fail quicker than desktops, at least in my experience. But maybe that's because my brothers and I have built all our desktops ourselves over the years and we select our parts from good quality manufacturers. Most people get laptops pre-built and the people who put together the laptops will often cleverly select certain low quality parts for it. The HDD is usually the thing to skimp out on as far as quality goes, because it lowers the cost and the people who pre-build the laptops know that most consumers don't think about quality nearly as much as the specs, like amount of RAM and HDD space.

Whatever the case, it's always good to have backups. And USB drives are a great way to go for backing up projects. Unless it's a video project, because those are usually too massive. Modding CS takes hardly any space, so something like an 8 GB USB drive would be way more than enough to use as backup for any future projects as well.

Remember, if your project files are suddenly destroyed, you still haven't lost ALL of your work, because the experience you gain from working on a project is still there, meaning that, even though you end up starting over with the data, you will probably make it better quality on the second try because of what you learned the first time around and you will be able to make it quicker as well.

Thanks FrozenFire, I had a backup on my USB drive because I have to import my game for my laptop to my Mac OS. But the copy on it isn't the one with the most recent.version. And the most recent version I had fixed numerous things. So if I can't save it, then I plan to take some time to find out where to go from here, if I do save it, goal is sometime late this week to early next week.

Also, about the experience thing, my brother said the same thing.
I saw you're reply on Pixel Art and I've got good and bad news. The good news, I'm thinking about continuing your Zelda/CS crossover game, I think! If I have time after the mod that I'm developing. That leads to the bad news, I need to wait until my mod is done, I don't want two mods at once. But if I do, I'll include rights reserved to you, anyway, it is you original mod.
    rixis19
    rixis19
Well I will think it over but I'll probably use you're story because I was planning on something to do with my mod, a sequel, maybe, and you practically had the same story story as my sequel except yours is zelda-ized, and different plot for why he was there. Funny, isn't it?

On another note, I noticed you keep saying "you're" when you should be using "your". I know that some people on these forums will get needlessly annoyed, so I wanted to point it out and save some trouble.

"you're" is exactly the same as saying "you are", but when you say "your", you are talking about something a person possesses.

Example: If I were to say, "your mod", then I'm referring to a mod that you are making; it is yours. If I were to say, "you're mod", then I'm actually saying, "you are mod", which makes no sense. "You're" is just a combination of "You are", that is all. When used properly, it helps to make for an easier read, as saying "you are" can over-complicate some sentences, blah blah, etc. etc.

It's a pretty common thing to mess up on, but it can be a little confusing to read.

I learned about homophones, like your and you're, but I always forget when to use either!
