Actually it's purely flag based. Flag 563 will determine which gun she shoots.

Also her gun's code just spawns regular bullets, so it's a quick ASM hack to have her shoot level 3 spur shots or level 3 super missiles.

thanks!
Have you got the offset for that hack?

Mixer, Noxid's compendium has the offset for every single NPC.
It really isn't that hard to figure out from there.

Why would you even use Cave Editor to edit .pbm's or .bmp's.
MSPaint is where it's at, bro.

Using a paint program (any paint program) is a thousand times better and easier than using a cave story editor's sprite editor. You're incredibly restricted resource-wise, and you're limited to a certain colour palette. Ask anyone here, and I guarantee that probably almost everyone will say that they never use the sprite editor.
If you're unsure how to start editing, Cave Editor has a very handy option in Game Settings that allows you to change all .pbm file extensions within the Cave Story folder into whatever type you want. Most people use .bmp, but you could use .png or .jpg if you wanted to.

Is it possible to make the Zzz... Effect float upwards without going to the right?
EDIT: How to remove the recoil from machine gun?
Second edit: I have managed how to remove the recoil, but if you shoot down, you will fall slower :)

I have all of Cave Story's images in a bmp (16 bit) format, but when I change the color of something, it just shows up in a grayish color. Will this be fixed if I save the image as a 24-bit Bitmap image? I just want to make sure before I accidentally screw up my game.

Wait, does the blade even have different shots for left and right? I thought it was basically symmetrical

Anyway, you should look for something that modifies [E_X+40] since that's your direction variable if I recall. Setting it to 1 or 0 will tell the code that allocates the framerects whether to use the set for facing left or for facing right.
