Which is the hardest boss in Cave Story?

Same here. Generally I'm not too spiffy at the second stage of Ballos, with all the getting caught in the bats and boosting stuff. So, spamming works

The key to not getting caught in the bats, for me, is to not jump into his eye to begin with.

And sheesh, don't hate on the spelling. >.<

I see that misspelling in an awful lot of places, including the Cave Story Boss Rush Mod, and every now and then I need to vent.

Even though when you jump onto his cheek on his second form and fire like hell, Curly is watching your back from the green devils anyway.

[sarcasm]this is an awesome thread.
It works so well because there are so many bosses in the game.
Also because Cave Story is a really hard game, so there is a lot of debate about the hardest boss[/sarcasm]

 

The Core was never too hard for me, just Polar Star the projectiles and shoot missles when clear, that was easy enough for me. I found the reason for me always losing to monster X, I found the Blade (lvl. 2 or 3) works wonders. I almost want to say Curly. The patterns are easy to get used to, but just a few mistakes and you'll find yourself fighting with a level 1 Polar Star :/

The Core and Monster X aren't so hard to beat, it's just that they take longer to kill which means you have to survive longer.

In other words, they're hard because of high health.

No it's mostly because they have those periods where they close up and you can't do any damage to them at all.

If it wasn't for that they'd be really easy, compared to just some-what easy.

You know what made the Core easy for me? Misery summoning those orange critters. I purposefully went near her so she'd summon the orange critters and jump into that orange pile spamming shots. Because the critters had low health and there were so many of them, Id pick up the billion hearts they left behind and come out with more health than when I first went in. With this ability to recharge health I could recklessly take Sue and Misery down, Then with them gone, it was a pretty simple task to attack the core which was alone. If Sue and Misery were still in the room they would be huge distractions and would whittle down my health.

That's the Undead Core, not the Core. Yes, the Undead Core is easier than the Doctor.

Also frenzied toroko was the hardest boss fight to me second only to ballos.
