giving Malco the Map System in Dead End

It makes an awful lot of sense that way, so you should probably leave it like that.
That's not what I meant. I meant I'd have to take out some items, since you get the
spur pieces in those panels (I know one's in grasstown)

Incidentally, I've gotten through Genesis: Spirit twice now, but I still don't understand the FwooooOOOOOooo bit. Could you explain how to do it? Because while I've beaten it, I have no idea how I did it. (Spoilered, of course.)

I understand that it's a direct LOS to the fire that warps you back, and I understand that usually it moves one step closer to you every time you move between squares, but occasionally it seems to not follow this pattern, and I don't understand why.
Lemme cear it up. The flame steps to a position that is most beneficial to catch you.
For example:

(P = quote, F= flame, and - and | are walls. Ignore the _'s, they help out the diagram from failing)

P
---------
___|_F_|

So, the flame can go either to the left, or up. Either way, it moves closer.
But, since there is a wall blocking the LOS to the left, it will choose to go up instead, for easy capture. Let's see another example.

_______|___________________________P____|
------------------------------------------------------
_______|____F________|_________|________|
Now, since the flame will technically be closer if It moves right, it has no visible advantage over the player. So, it moves up, since it has a clear sight of the player instead. Hope this helps.
(I realize the diagrams are crap. Please don't remind me.)

Huh?

The panel is specifically where Malco was storing stuff. He tells you to use the Remote Control inside the Power Room. For there to be other panels opened by the same remote control would be unintuitive.

And why would you have to take the items out? :orangebell:

I know all that (though it should be in a spoiler).

But there are some cases where it doesn't do that, and instead moves to the complete opposite side of the maze. These are necessary to complete the puzzle, as there is no LOS-blocker on the second-bottom row, which you have to use to get out.

What I don't know is how to trigger them.

Well, I didn't make the panel-control-decision-thingy.
In the grasstown panel, you get the
autocharger.
Since I already made a chest with that in it, I should probably change it.

As for the FWOOOOOOOO puzzle, that has never happened to me. I just keep triggering the trigger until I find a point where I can ditch the fire.

Ah. Yes. There can be only one! :orangebell:

Speaking of which, is that second Fuel Cell of any actual use?

I still haven't found the
Pulse Core.

I want to know whether I've missed it or just haven't gotten up to it, so...

I've been through the Labyrinth, and been through Genesis via the Graveyard. I've also explored the Egg Corridor, Outer Wall, Oblivion: Moon, and the Chimney. Have I missed it? (a yes or no is all I want)

Hmm.

Re: Jenka's Nightmare Revived

Actually, I replaced the
pulse core
with the
fuel cell.
I might change it back, if you guys really want me to.

As in, swapped?

If they're swapped, the dialogue should also be swapped. (I think the names sound better where they were originally, but that's just my opinion)

Having them be the same item can result in bad things happening, because you can scale the Chimney without the Booster 2.0 (as I did).

You never stop reminding me of that, do you?
Well, I'll try, but my computer's being a slowwie lately.

Of what?

If you pick up the same item twice, the second one gets ignored, right? So if you scaled the Chimney with the 0.8, you'd then have only one Fuel Cell despite having picked up both, meaning you'd have to give up on either the Spur or the Booster v2.0.

And, I mean, it's pretty easy to forget to go into the Town Hall. I did on my first playthrough.

Re: Jenka's Nightmare Revived

Well, I meant about the fact that the booster doesn't work, but I didn't think of that...
Yeah, I'm swapping it back with the pulse core.

Also, maybe I'll make barriers so you can't go on to genesis: water without booster 2.0.

The 0.8's more interesting than the 2.0, really, so it's not like I'm bored playing around with it.

Yeah, I'm swapping it back with the pulse core.

Okay.

Are you getting rid of the not-really-a-door at the top of the Chimney?

Also, the "mother" monsters in the top half of the Chimney - can they actually be killed (with the exception of the one right at the top)? I know they stop dispensing babies after a while, so once that happened I pounded on one for at least 5000 damage with the Nemesis, and it was unfazed.

Re: Jenka's Nightmare Revived

I have no idea about the mother enemies. Just leave 'em be. I can't change the health; every time I press the "edit NPC table" button in CE, then CE crashes on me.

And I have an idea for the door...heh.

Well, this is what I ended up doing, of course, as my finger got a bit tired after several minutes of pounding the thing (also, the monster went all Kulala and started trying to hit me itself).

And I'd already gotten up to the top and back by ignoring them.

I'm just curious whether there is actually a limit to how much punishment those things can take.

Oh, no, I'm not asking for it to be edited or anything. I'm just curious, because I know they have more health than anything I've seen in Cave Story.

And I have an idea for the door...heh.

Re: Jenka's Nightmare Revived

When I looked in the MyChar.pbm in Jenka's Nightmare, all Mimiga Mask sprites were replaced with Curly Brace. I think the original creator of Jenka's Nightmare, Schmitz, was planning to allow the player to take control of Curly in future parts of the mod.

Huh. That's weird.
Maybe I can use that to my advantage.
...
So, you were snooping around in the files, eh?

Re: Jenka's Nightmare Revived

Yes, I was. I found about it a few years ago, when I first downloaded Jenka's Nightmare (and after experiencing the mod) while the forums were still in MiraiGamer, before you came around.

Re: Jenka's Nightmare Revived

Ah, I see. I only have been here a week.
So, I might be running a bit late on the demo release, because i can't do anything on my stupid computer.
I still have tons of glitches to fix. Haven't even touched on the story.

Yeah, there were more than I remembered.

I'll likely do the rest tomorrow.

EDIT: Oh, also, the uberBubbler seems to have even more damage capacity than I thought. I shot one bolt at three Skullsteps and they all came up -20 and dead. Lolz.

EDIT2: Well, since I'm apparently not supposed to double post, I PMed the rest of the typos.

Also, a minor issue - when the Gaudska-teers appear, if you're facing left, you can only see three of them during the cutscene.

Re: Jenka's Nightmare Revived

Oh, doublethink. So silly. To be honest, I didn't even know he was a moderator...
Anyway, thanks for the help magic, I definitely appreciate it.
I'll fix that bubbler ASAP. Also, today imma blast through and finish that new demo.
You'll even get to see the new area!
