• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

Well then, today's your lucky today.

Finished the new fix!
I've added lots of skipflags to the lengthy dialogues, allowing you to completely skip long cutscenes, but they only work if you've seen them once already. And they'll reset if you restart the EXE.
However, I've added a special Global Skip-Flag thing in the first room for those who've played before and don't want to go through all the talking again. Just look for the "Hey" bubble.

There are also many more save points, and other balance changes.
The
Polar Void Star is different, as is the Missile Robotic Arm, but I'd rather let everyone play and find out how, themselves :D
Suffice to say, it should still be challenging, even after the stupidly high number of enemies has been dropped down some.

There have also been changes to dialogue and such, but probably nothing enough to replay the entire thing over for.

Also, I had to swap all of the maps around {Blame the work I've done for Part 2}, so old save files will not work anymore. However, because of this, I've added a save file in the download called "Current Save.dat" which will take you to right before the mod cuts off, with everything but a few secret items {You need to find those yourself :D} collected.
Some graphical changes, too. Not big tileset changes {Unless you count the new Intro}, but improvements nonetheless. I'd like to hear what you think about them, incase I continue using that method for the rest of the mod.

Downloads {Also fixed on the first post}:
eSnips
Mediafire

So, no more complaining about skip flags, they're in there for sure this time! :D;

A very nice mod. I found the writing to be quite enjoyable and at times rather droll. However, in the interest of improvment, I'd like to point out the errors/glitches I found.

1) A minor thing where after a certain cutscene fairly early on (about the time they first discover the teleporter) the <FOM is set to a slow value and it stays that way until the little lift ride thing.

2) Speaking of lifts, it's deathly slow, you should ASM some speed into that puppy.

3) Some kind of tileset error when you get the super beamer cannon thing. Pix below:

4) This thing. And right while I was enjoying the credits, too.

But you know, other than that, I really like it alot. The Balrog fight was a little rough what with losing your power, however I got it the second time.

Huh, that's really weird....
I think I might know the problem, but it didn't do that for me...
{Did it happen when the arm broke off?}

Nevermind, I figured it out.

The reason for the credit crashing still alludes me, I'm having a hard time figuring it out....
{Which sucks, 'cause there's more to the credits...}

I'll do a quick re-upload for fixes to 1) and 3), links should stay the same though.
Correction, eSnips stayed the same. Crappy Mediafire...
Bugs fixed and links updated. Thanks for the reply, also.

I really like the new fonts (like the number font).

It's also nice that there's an extra save point after you get your Void star, since that first room with 3hp frustrated me so much on the original version.

CDs for save points? Or are they DVDs? Meh, flash drives would have been cooler, but it's all good anyways.

Aw, you took my idea for a side/side menu.
Guess I need to act quicker.

Also, you still are using the up down keys for the menu, which is confusing, wan tme to change that?

Aren't CDs sorta like Floppies

Some people actually get irritated at the fact that floppy discs have become an almost universal symbol for saving {I file them under the same group who try to ban Comic Sans for being a silly font}, so I just thought it'd be sorta neat to use CDs instead.

Sorry, and yes, that'd be awesome.
{Though, if you wouldn't mind, I'd also like to know the offsets to change it and such, myself}

Oh, and I also finally figured out the cause for the credits crashing, so if whenever you can change the arrows keys for the menu, I'll upload another quick fix for those two things.

I really like this mod.
The plot is awesome.

Number 2 on my fav. list.

So, can you tell us what was the cause of the credits crashing?

You know this is mostly just an update for the first part, right?
And I'll check into eSnips right away...
Fixed, now.

Oh, yes.
There's apparently a limit of how characters you can have per line in the Credit.TSC.
I simply guessed that was the case when the error kept saying "Buffer Overload" and got it right :);

Alright, re-uploaded again with the Assembly fix Lace showed me for the Menu controls.

Dare I ask, but how much progress has been made on part 2? I've REALLY wanted to know what happened after the ending of Part 1.

That, and I want to read more amazing dialogue.

Not a whole lot, some rooms in, but I'm mostly stuck on something that will require advance Assembly hacking to do, lest I end up making the most boring ripoff quest, ever.
There's also going to be more delays due to other projects...
I'll try balancing work between them, but don't expect anything soon...

By ripoff quest I'm going to guess that means finding Jenka's dogs again...

Yes, that would be a pain. I'm willing to wait for a better quest than that.

Re: Sorry, delayed...

Hey it would be cool if you added some side quests, from Booster (he and Jenka started going out after Ballos was defeated). Like a quest where you have to find him some viagra.
