You can get a PSP port free of charge since someone hacked the PSP and put Cave Story on it as a free homebrew game.

In other words: Yes and no.

Yes: It was never in the works because...

No: ...It has already been made.

If you're talking about the port that "Variant Interactive" started, then the answer is: cancelled. They high-tailed it after promising replies to Kotaku and other blogs, but never did mention anything else about it. After a while, the site closed down, as well as all mention of games. Now, they've switched gears to "I have no idea!" No mention of Cave Story anywhere on their redesigned site, which is still unfinished by the way! (not surprised)

I'm actually glad. They've always seemed like a sleezy group to me, using artwork without permission from the author for their PSP cover. I also didn't believe that they talked to Pixel, even if they claimed it.

Whether if there is a Cave Story port to the PSP, yes. There is one, which is completed. Like GearStrike said, the homebrew version is released, and is completed with widescreen and all. You can find it on Cavestory.org. (too bad a full DS port seems to be out of the picture for now...)

Malco looks... different from what I would have imagined. Wonder what his "makeover" looks like?

Is it possible for there to be an official-type trailer made for this game that isn't completely awful?

Well, they're not COMPLETELY awful. I mean, it plays the same, right?!

...right?

I do see what you mean, though, DoubleThink. Not all sprites have changed to double resolution, the music and sound effects need to be worked on...

I fear that this version won't be ready by the holidays at this rate...!

Sorry, but if you're reading this, Tyrone (oh, and welcome to the forums, by the way!), how's about an update right about now? It's been over a week! Mind you, this is just a request; I completely understand if you're too busy for such a thing...

Well, there's not much you can do to NOT make it sound cliché! Originality is a hard thing to come by in these days...

If you can think up of a better description, go for it!

Omg i think this is thought this was dead.

But it looks like we are going to have cave story wii ware afterall.

The blog (http://nicalis.com/blog/) has FINALLY been updated, showing that this has not died. Just thought I'd let those who weren't constantly checking the blog for updates (I was....) know, so that you wouldn't think this had died (like i did).

Oh, I had no doubt that Cave Story would be released for the Wii! I was just impatient for news...

Well, now that the blog is in full swing again, (more members of Nicalis are posting, and two posts in one day) they just announced a feature that us fans have been requesting for a long time...

DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT!!!

Wonder what will become available...?

And yet, Nicalis still promises even more content for this version of Cave Story! Boy, are they giving this project a lot of love...

They're not that bad, they look like they follow pixel's style perfectly (cuz pixel drew em). They look awesome, and just because we've all gotten nice and used to the cavestory we know doesn't mean change is bad. This is a good sprite (she's exactly as wide as her old sprite, but they made her arm stick out a little more, only thing I'd suggest is maybe making the arm and body not mesh together so much.) Regardless this is great.
Besides, you just saw them, you'll warm up to them once you get used to them.

@xristos: She really doesn't look fat, Idk what you're talking about.

I personally think it's very funny that you're all disappointed by Curly's sprite :)
In fact I love it that you're all disappointed.
