Believe me, I am very familiar with the original music.

I understand you might be missing the old percussion and such, but the real reason I think you hate the new music is because of the style it has. Or rather, you're still expecting it to be a lot like the old music. The new stuff is different, but it's pretty good for not being too close to the original.

[EDIT]: From the sounds of your comments, you want the wiiware CS to be the current CS. I think some changes here and there (oh gawd that dialogue with misery and omega I hated it) won't be too bad.

We're so darn use to the old CS that we're kinda holding the new one against it's predecessor unfairly.

Try to at least give the new stuff more of a chance, don't compare it to the old stuff.
I think the biggest reason some of us don't like the music is because of how different it feels compared to the old ones. Once you get around comparing it, you'll enjoy most of it.

It's like I've recently begun saying: If you build it, they will come; if you change it, they will rage.

But Giraka's right. We should give it a chance. Despite the Egg Corridor and Misery not speaking in almost-Shakespearean English and... "Hurray"... there's probably a lot of good in there.

Edit: Well, this is embarrassing. I don't know why I didn't watch the previews before.

Meltdown 2 was kind of cute. Misery's speech was indeed painful. Eyes of Flame was kind of tinny, but kind of reminded me of my youth playing Genesis games.

And this is the worst part... I kind of liked Mischievous Robot... it reminded me of Pokémon R/B/Y.

Also, I see they did nothing to resolve the issue of Sue's nose. Pixel, i am dissapoint.

Well, my friend is convinced that the scar is her nose, and I say it's just a scar. I was hoping the new Sue faceplate would clear that up. But it looks exactly like the old one.

...Pixel why didn't you do that with Toroko

Although I must say, it's nice that the issue of Misery's hair is cleared up.

Jeezzz you are picky as hell. Thank god i not like that, and actualy apreciate how things are. (Hell, even a sprite's nose makes problems....)

(Nah purists no, this translation is more near of what pixel wanted, and you can play with the old graphics and music, so i guess it's nostalgic stuborness ala "Final Fantasy IV is II, not that changes the game itself, but lets get mad for the sake of it")

You know, i loved what i saw.
And i actually liked the music.
And i will suport CAVE STORY <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
And yes i will buy the game in lauch date. (if i find points around here)

I think that egg corridor video is pretty old, and Nicalis themselves basically admitted the music was terrible (They called it a work in progress). Unless there's some new Egg corridor video I've not seen... Also, what about that moonsong remix they have for the cave story wii website? I'm quite fond of that one.

This was ripped from the wiiware trailer by some guy. Ignoring some of the quality loss, I have to say that this newer version of eyes of flames sounds pretty kick ass. Like really kick ass.

Too much gameplay noise, and baddly ripped (looks more like recorded), but i can still hear it's awesomeness.
I guess i will have to wait for the release to make my final judgement.

I think people expected the music to be hi-quallity remix, but Nicallis seems to want to maintain the retro level of Cave Story.
In short in both music and graphics they wanted a "8-bit->16-bit" kind of upgrade.

It actually sounds more or less like they're going from 16 back to 8 simply because they're using less instruments and percussion.

Although some of the instruments are higher quality than you could get in the old CS, it sounds that way (this song at least).

Hah, now that's much better than the skipping in the Omega fight vid. I don't much care for the second... stanza? beat? the thing after the intial drums or summat, but it's not ruined.

Okay, faith restored. Impress me with Oppression, Nicalis.

(No, I can't shut up about Oppression, it's my most favoritest boss song.)
