Cave Story 2?

(skims article) so people think that there might be a sequel because of an Icon on Nicolas's CEO's computer. maybe he plays mods just like we do. maybe he's a secret member on this very forum.

If Nicalis would ever release a Cave Story 2, they should just remake Jenka's Nightmare in CS+'s Engine, add some new features, and BAM... cash starts falling out of the sky

EDIT: I'm pretty sure I've seen some sources saying pixel is considering developing CS 2, but those could be false rumors and inaccurate sources none the less.

 

I think it very unlikely that there really is a Cave Story 2 coming. I doubt that NICALiS would try to do such a project without Pixel's involvement, and Pixel wasn't very interested in trying to make a Cave Story 2 last time I checked. I'm led to believe that that shortcut was just some copy of the regular game, or perhaps some mod that was ported to mac. Many other possibilities. Some may argue that Tyrone wouldn't have given such an ambiguous response if it weren't happening, but companies have been known to abstain from confirming or denying rumors just for the fun of it. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it seems very unlikely.

Well, there would also be the possibility that they are doing it themselves, or pressuring Pixel to make it, the most likely the latter. Either that, or they have some pretty bad mod taste, along with a mod converter.

 

I wouldn't particularly mind if this happened, as long as Nicalis keeps out of the development for the most part. I don't think it is actually a thing, Daisuke never seemed particularly thrilled about the idea of making a sequel...but if he ever does I'll be hoping he is given his space to develop it as he wishes.

If there's going to be an an addition to Cave Story, I hope it will be a prequel. Then again, I also agree that it's an old game and it probably should just be left alone.

I hope it's a joke. I love Nicalis' work but this is going to fail miserably. Only way to make it any good is remaking jenka's nightmare or making a prequel 10 years before the events of Cave Story. Or doing a sequel to the bad ending in particulary.

Yeah... See if pixel was going to do this he should have done it a long time ago. Too many people have made sequel mods.
All Cave Story mods about sequels are dead if this happens.
CS Modding will be pretty much ruined.
