Cave Story 2?

So please don't release CS2 developers....

I think that Paper Mario is more like a spiritual succesor to Mario RPG like Kero Blaster is a Spiritual Succesor to Cave Story (Or at least I feel like it's spiritual succesor)

 

Yeah, that's fair. Seriously tho there definitely is a Chrono Trigger 2; last I checked Chrono Cross /does/ exist

There is really no reason that serves his interests in giving out the source code, so I doubt we'll ever see it.

The name for Paper Mario was going to be Super Mario RPG 2 until Nintendo discovered that they couldn't name it as a direct sequel without Square's permission or involvement.

 

I've been seeing people say the Cave Story 2 rumor was false.. I saw the picture of the desktop icon... It looked legit, IDK people are saying it's fake.

The CS2 rumor has been going on for years. I think it evolved into Kero Blaster.

And lots of people can make icons easily. I mean, Pixel isn't the only one who can design icons.

 

There is no "CS2 rumor" that's been going on for years and I don't think there ever was one. He's referring to the one in that thread that was just linked, which was clearly intended as a joke, as it wasn't even an icon, just a folder saying "Cave Story 2"

They probably never would have published it under that name anyway, considering the huge differences (everything is...uh... paper.) I think SMRPG 2 was just a working title.

Nah, they did intend to call it that. It was legal issues with Square that led to the name change.

Interestingly enough there was a joke mod called Cave Story 2 that was ported to mac if I recall.

However I'd expect that the folder names aren't reflective of their contents. Rather I would imagine that the folders were renamed/created for privacy reasons, so that people don't see their desktop's contents, and someone decided to make a joke while creating the new folder names.

 

At this point, I don't think it is very likely for any of these rumors to be real. We can dream all we want, but its not happening.

not really, when you look at cave story as a whole, there really aren't any unanswered questions worth making much of a plot we don't already know about or would be all that interesting.

 

I just really wish that Pixel could make a new game...
