Hello,

I have one question about this awesome game, I just finished it on my GP2X  It is indeed the BEST GAME I have ever played so far and this is why I am here. Are there plans for a sequel of this game for the GP2X? If not, are there plans of making another awesome game like this with the same engine? Thanks in advance.

He does have other games, but none like this.

If you look into the Mods section, you can find games made with the Cave Story engine, although none are as good as cave story.

Those aren't games, those are mods, there is a huge difference :x
If it would be a game with the Cave Story engine, then Cave Story must be open source then.

Ikachan was done with the same engine, actually Ikachan came first so Cave Story was built with the Ikachan engine.

So the GP2X port is 100% finished, cool.

That is 6 ports overall for cave story so far (SDL, Mac, Linux, Xbox, GP2X and PSP), but not a single Ikachan port to be seen.

its not really worth it for ikachan as it takes around 30 mins to beat and theres no extra things, eg cavestory you can get spur and other weapons, different endings and etc you know what i mean

Ikachan and Guxt deserve at least one port each, PSP would be good. :D

Oh, and Pixel's RPG when it is released.

I don't think anyone ever wanted to sequel it. I don't think anything besides His Will could make it succeed.

You made a thread just to say that a Cave Story sequel would suck. Well, we all agree that it would. The ending to the first one was pretty concrete, and using the same characters and stuff again would just be repetitive. One is enough.

Aye, agreed, and besides, Pixel didn't really leave any loose threads at the end of CS.

He did a great job, and heck, he made it so we could enjoy it, and not have to buy it.

(I would have bought this game anyways.)

I would have bought this game if I knew how great it was, but I never would have played it in the first place if it costs money. I was like, "Damn I'm bored. What's this "Cave Story" that I hear about?" Of course, now that I know how great it is, I fully intend on buying the Wii version on someone else's Wii. Because I don't have one. The WiiWare version is probably much better than any sequel, because it's CAVE STORY.

Reminds me of a thought I often have...

"Sequels have a way with ruining a game's fame. The first game brings in the crowds, and the second usually drives them away..."

I disagree. Video game sequels are usually better than the original. After the sequel they can get worse, but #2 is normally better. ESPECIALLY if it's a freeware game. But a sequel to Cave Story would probably take away all the magic and wonder. Plus, Pixel is the only man who could pull it off and I doubt he wants to do it.
