Sometimes I feel like I should hate him for it, but then I remember that it only propagates the cycle... it's hard to break the chain, and Fire's probably in a position where he's going to harbour all these negative feelings for the rest of his life, having acquired this disposition in his childhood. The best I can do is just try to keep my cool and not agitate him.
I feel bad that you have to avoid stuff just because of him. He's done the same thing to Gardebiter; Fire was so constantly hateful and condescending to him that he's now quitting his adminship because he can't handle it. It's really pretty awful..
