Yes, they WERE trying to pay homage to it, but then took on an 'ah, screw it, who cares anyway' attitude.
They really didn't pay homage, I mean, how many people that play starcraft hardcore even KNOW about Warhammer 40K? Not very many. (well, my brother does, but he was a 40K fan before he was a SC fan.)

It's only sucsessful because blizzard made it. I'm just mad at them for not evn telling the audience, even though it's painfully obvious.
Like, say, if Blizzard was less sucsessfull (but still very popular) And that one DOTA game thats out (the one that used 'too bad it's me, Blacksmith!'.) was much more sucessfull, and it was obviously based off of WC3, but everyone that loved the game eventually just forgot about it, and the producers knew it, but wouldn't say anything, wouldn't you be a LITTLE bit annoyed if you were a WC3 fan from before it came out?
