So, over two months ago I said I'd do some CS+ porting and reserved opening up a porting thread, but I'll probably not be doing that anymore. The reason for this being that I found it nigh impossible to find a way to distribute a port in its full glory without distributing any of NICALiS' graphics. Just about every mod that has custom graphics only partially changes certain sprite sheets. In which case the sprites from Cave Story that are used in that mod would have to be in there, and I'd have to make my own graphics for those in order to be able to legally distribute the port, which in my opinion would kind of defeat part of the magic and automation of porting it to CS+ and taking advantage of the graphics already made double resolution. Just about no mod whatsoever had no sprite sheet or tile set editing. Some mods like my own even had a very minor case of sprite editing, but would have a small part of it changed, and need that new sprite sheet in order for it to work. And I know of no way to make an installer that automatically makes specific changes to certain files, nor verify that a proper installation of CS+ exists before extracting the files with NICALiS' graphics. Now of course the edited .tsc .pxe and .pxm files would be fine, but I just can't find a way to easily do this without adding in extra bits of NICALiS' sprites. Of course, one thing I considered was having a download with the edited rooms, as well as the changed parts of the sprite sheets, and say "Paste this part of the image into this part of this sprite sheet." But I felt that that took away from the automation of installing a port. TL;DR, I couldn't find a way to properly port mods that could legally be distributed to anyone. So sorry if you had a plan for properly porting mods to CS+ and deliberately held back on doing it because of me.
