The Spanish translation of Cave Story Freeware is very well polished, although due to special characters some dialogues do not render in Doukutsu-rs, NX Engine, etc. My idea would be to create a version without special characters to make porting Cave Story into Spanish easier (although some words might sound weird xD)

20 years...??? It doesn't FEEL like 20 years...

I still remember staying up all morning before school to beat Ballos for the first time... (pulling my hair out and the satisfaction when finally beating it) Still remember SkyeWelse telling me on Ys forums to check out Cave Story, and how the story of the Mimigas captured my imagination, writing countless theories on everything Cave Story on these forums. I do wish I had stayed focused on making mods though, and completed some of the mods I began...

I've avoided thinking about the past for many years, but did meet a lot of creative, fun and awesomely random cave story fans on these forums. Probably would have been a little closer to people if I'd have gotten onto Discord and such back when people moved away from the forums. Ah well, what's done is done~

I've really appreciated these forums over the years. A little island floating out on the internet... Gotta be thankful to andwhyisit, DT for keeping this place afloat after alllll these years. And all the modders and fans that shared their stories to make this an interesting place... Times change, but loved being a small part of it.

Again thanks Pummelator for pointing this anniversary out to me :debug: ...Maybe I should revisit Cave Story once again earnestly soon... and see at least a drop in the ocean of mods I've missed. And maybe read some old posts to see what I've forgotten :o

20 years :momo: Dang, that is some consistency... nearly as old as the game itself! Congratulations! I've seen so many people who used to be so active just eventually disappear, it does take some dedication to stick around, and for that, I respect and appreciate you. It's so heartening to see the fans still alive, if not kicking as hard anymore...? Makes me wonder how much longer it'll all last, and truth be told, it makes me a little scared as well.

20 years is absolutely wild. Yeah totally give CS another go! I myself hadn't seriously done a full playthrough of the game in about 2 years but picked it up like it was yesterday and burned through it in about 2 hours lol.

Last year I said I would try to make a game loosely based on Metronari and release it this summer. I think it's safe to say I probably am gonna need more time.

Chalk it down partially to the usual procrastination (and also suffering a bit of a dip slowing me down, which includes work related stress) but also to me still figuring out a bunch of under the hood stuff, including my hubris punishing me with the need to make a basic editor.
Once map/script stuff is done I hope I'll be able to focus on all the fun gameplay stuff but summer might be a bit too optimistic outside of maybe a demo (which I want to avoid if I can).

Unlike with previous mod projects though(color story/dreams below/metronari 2) I'm absolutely sticking to this one, I can promise that at least.

It seems there is a Spanish version on Steam, consoles, and mobile devices. However, the Steam version is in Castilian Spanish, and I'm working on a Latin American version (although I think it's a bit unnecessary and might cancel it). :confused:

Kiwis are amazing and super silly. They don't really do anything fantastic but I just think they're cool little guys.

Ducks are also amazing but I don't think I'm the one who needs to say that. They get confused with geese a lot I've noticed, where people are afraid of them because of territorial reasons. Ducks are much friendlier though, geese are not very nice

"The amount of crap that kills the player" doesn't make your mod experience any more or less difficult, especially if you don't put much thought into it. Just studying game design or looking at hard games and seeing how they make their levels can be helpful.

Remember that levels are easier for you than they are for the people that'll play it.

Try to not accidentally frustrate people trying to beat your level either- if you expect people to die a lot then make respawning instant or something.
