Alright.
I'm looking forward to this even more now!
Good luck.
And I think I'm starting to understand what exactly is happening in the mod.
It wasn't really clear but I think I'm starting to understand it a little. Infact what I think is going on is just a bit of a guess...

Well, I've been doing a bit of work with assembly, and this is what I have so far:

[Edit]: I don't know if the youtube tags are working, so here's a link down here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPiUSlcyF04

I've been working on this pretty much straight for the past week. School started wednesday though, so I might have gotten this video completed sooner if not for that. Still, enjoy this video for now. But this hack won't appear in WTF-story until v 0.6 probably, simply because that's where it would fit.

Later, if I have time, I might do some documentation on the hack so that others may try to recreate a portal gun.

[Edit]:Also, the map seen in the video was made purely for testing/demonstration purposes, to show off the gun. It will not be appearing in WTF-story (the map).

And special thanks to dooey for teaching me enough about assembly that I was able to pull off a hack like this

That looks so sweet!
I really wanna try and get my head around assembly now.
I'd love to see the use of it in a fight.

hey!
great jorb with the new weapons gir.
as someone who is not nearly as talented at assembly as I'd like to make you think, I appreciate the effort you must've put into making those weapons.

good jorb indeed.

Truely exceptional work with the portal gun. You're really raising the bar for what we can do with our hacks, hope others follow suit.

No not at all! I mean it exactaly like i said it. This is so dope i never would have thought it possible, i hope to have my mind blown again in the future. Stuff like this could really open a new door in mods.

Also hi too you too lace, get aim.

Oh, and I've never really been gone. I just normally don't like posting.

Secret missions

Yeah, there's like 3 secret missions so far, I believe, one for each 'part'.
The doorsways typically blend in with the background, so just going to suspicious looking areas or spots where you'd think someone would hide a doorway and pushing the down key a lot is a good way to find them :D;
Each mission involves a tough challenge, and only increases your RAM by 1 each time, but it's worth it in the long run.

oh umm that would have been REALLY helpful in some of the rooms but i guess beating it with one health just makes me more hardcore

Someone should show Pixel... I wonder how far he thought this could be taken.

Thanks for posting, Gir.

no...
how do you think you can judge pixel's reaction to a mod (albeit a cool one) when he's expressed his disapproval of mods in general? and although this mod is awesome, it is not the most impressive one I've seen by a long shot (no offense gir), namely because it's only, what, five maps long(?) and doesn't quite have a plot. play jenka's, play schism, play original sin. these mods have not (as far as we can tell) impressed pixel ot gained his support in any way. why would this one be any different?

Because it is different.

Sure, it doesn't have much in the way of storyline yet... it's not finished. A good book doesn't reveal everything about itself in its first few pages. Either way, who said I was even talking about storyline?

I was talking about how it does stand out in the area of weapon hacking and its puzzles. The mods you have mentioned before are all practically the same compared to this mod.

Even if he doesn't approve of mods in general, Pixel probably could still appreciate how far his game has gone. A mod is a testament to how good a game is, after all.

um, have you even played those mods?
jenkas is pretty much all puzzles, original sin was the first game to have weapon hacks, and schism is one of the most polished mods out there.

sure, this mod's different, SO ARE ALL OF THOSE ONES.

(for the record, I really do like this mod, but, really?)
