I agree. The crucial difference between jumping and flying is control. If you jump, you relinquish control as soon as you leave the ground. If you're flying, you have control for the whole flight.

Of course, the term "flying" is also used when one doesn't have control, for example "the ball flew through the air".

Ok, so its not that close. But still as for him jumping straight up(which he does a lot), it could be done.

 

He's talking about moving in the air and aiming where you land, which you haven't answered.

 

There is no control with jumping so it couldn't be done.
