Which is the hardest boss in Cave Story?

The first time I played Cave Story, the bosses that gave me a tough time was the Doctor.

I was a newbie back then, now I have no trouble with any of them, except when I'm fighting the core with 3hp.

Curse you core.

Are any of the new difficulties tougher than the original PC version?

Also on the lower difficulities, how did they make it easier than the original?

IIRC Hard mode is an enforced 3 HP run, while Easy mode halves all damage.

So yes, Hard mode is harder than the PC difficulty unless you're doing a 3 HP run.

 

I found the Core the first time around hard as hell (on my very first time playing).
Just keeps killing me and killing me, Till I figured out a pattern that I used abusing the blade, machine gun, and super missles

Fighting Misery at the end was painful for me also, till I remember one the old classic sidescroller tricks: leave and re-enter an are so enemys pop so I can level my weapons up.
Lvl 3 super Missles and Blade raped her.

Aw that's too bad... I was hoping the various difficulties added or removed things from the game...

Like maybe Balrog uses extra moves in Hard mode, and Easy, he makes a face sometimes, and stands still.

Yet somehow Curly's Panties turn out to be the strongest weapon in the game.

 

I thought it was a tie between Curly's Panties and Chaco's Lipstick.

 

True, Curly's Panties Lv3 possess the nemesis's lv1 fire power and range yet also King's Sword's level 3 spread effect.

Chaco's lipstick Lv3, while being stronger than Curly's Panties, is a more precise weapon and better left off to experts.

Despite that, Misery's tearful cutscene between her and Curly as she struggles to affirm herself as the strong, confident black woman that she is makes it all worth while when it comes to obtaining them.

 

I knew that you had never played Cave Story 3D, or you would have known that CP and CL can reach up to level 5 with the special Quote's Boxers item.

 

HAHA, but if you obtain The Doctor's sneakers from his corpse you get to cut off two of the levels which are nothing more but exp grinders, contributing to nothing.

Quote's Boxers item is necessary to level the two weapon, which would without it remain at level 1.

 

I hated The Undead Core fight.
