What the heck is Balrog?

I think he is either a lunchbox, a briefcase, a bar of soap, a toaster, or a kool-aid man......

 

You're gonna get ganged up on for doing the Balrog joke. Trust me, I tried to post a joke and everyone ganged up on me. The people on this forum are inable to comprehend humor.
Nonotheless, Balrog is a talking lunchbox that holds Eric Cartman. And look at my icon to know what happened to him.

The lunchbox and briefcase theories were because the top of the door behind Balrog during his first entrance looked like a handle. This is of course not the case.

Balrog's design was originally based on a bar of soap. Though that doesn't really tell us what he is.

No official artwork depicts Balrog with bread slots.

Balrog's use of the phrase "Oh Yeah!" in the official translation is entirely Nicalis. Same for AGTP and "Huzzah!". The original Japanese phrase was a Japanese war cry (Dorya!) that has no English equivalent.

It's not that, it is just that when a joke is used so frequently over the course of a few years it becomes less and less funny and eventually gets to the point of annoyance. Jokes usually stop becoming funny after the second or third time and this joke has gone on for a few years.

 

I believe he's just a robot with a functional (read: awkward and ugly) design shape. Unofficially, however, I like to think of him as a toaster. ^_^;

Does anyone know what the name of Balrog is based on? All i get is the demonic being from J.R.R. Tolkien's books, but no folklore or mythology so far.
