The Wish-Granting Game

Granted. However, since you went back in time, you essentially become your former self, and have no recollection of the events that have taken place between then and now, so you repeat the exact same sequence of actions that led to you making this wish, and me granting it, so the universe is stuck in an infinite loop, and never progresses any further in time. Not a paradox, just the end of the universe.

Actually, what I meant was that the entire universe returned to the state it was in at the point in time the person I was responding to wish to return to. If only he went back in time, there would be no infinite loop, because although he would be in the same state he was in, the rest of the universe would be different, and would influence him to make different choices from the ones which led to him wishing to go back in time, so no infinite loop. Though now that I think about it, your way where only he goes back in time would also be a good jackass genie move, because, unless the amount of time he went back were a multiple of a year, he would be in a different position in orbit around the sun than the earth, and would be in space and die.
