If the solar panels don't block the sun then they won't produce any power. They need to block the sun in order to work.

So that's another thing. I bet those bastards before were running all around the island killing everything and when Jenka made the solar panels she trapped them all in the Sand Zone.

You seem to have forgotten that there are also Sand Crocs on the Outer Wall.

 

The Outer Wall Sand Crocs are also what make my theory work.

Nope. They don't actually die. They just escape.
The pop is not an explosion from death, it is a flash of light they release so they can escape. They're like magical squids.
