someone needs to restrain me.
my posts are making less and less sense, and are less and less relevant.

(andwhy this means you.)

updated slightly. separated the blade frames for re-use (to make it look good, i'll need three actual frames for many poses.. as usual, refresh before you look at it.

the changes: three blade frames on the bottom, for ease of use. also made the attachment points for the legs move close together as it's turning, to make it look more realistic and obvious that he's turning around to look at.. whazzisname. also added a little shade above the window, since i suggested that in the first frame with the shading.

Well blast, I thought that the
Energy Canister
WAS the extra 10 upgrade. Whatever, I'll play through with the IGR again when the next update comes out.

So it's going to be another sleepless night before I get home.

Just thought I'd post some ideas I've had, that may or may not happen:
  • May require a perfect run (No damage) for an upcoming area.
  • Might have a modified Misery fight.
  • Lightning traps.
  • Wind tunnel.
  • Deathtrap alley.
  • Chainlaser ammo upgrade.
  • Chainlaser ???? upgrade.
  • Another Curly boss fight.
  • A map of nothing but moving blocks.
  • Puzzles and riddles.
  • The purpose of the BSOD revealed.
  • Ad naseum.

Those ideas all sound awesome, except for that one. Everyone uses a modified misery, but no one changes the fight enough to be interesting. If you use misery, please change something besides the terrain. (Although judging by how well you did the curly fight, I have nothing to worry about)

Well, the idea I've been fiddling with is a three-stage Misery fight.
With 3 Misery varients.

sounds neat. and pretty insane!

hey, one idea: i've never really tried scripting anything in CS, but do you think you could let the flame matrix switch to a copy of the basic matrix and back? that'd make the "upgrade" a little less useless. if the yellow bar could be saved between the two forms, that'd be even better! having both guns available whenever you want them :)
you could probably implement this using an extra item, which gives you the flame matrix on equip and the basic matrix on dequip.

another idea i just got from browsing the images the original cave story uses... more useless little secrets. think of curly's panties or those useless medals!

I'm pretty sure there's no way to preserve the energy bar, though that'd be nice.
I could easilly make them swappable.
But that'd kinda defeat the purpose of the trade.
And, uh.
There are no useless items in The Dark Platform.

well.. you dó spend a lot of time without one of the better weapons if you agree to that trade. it'd only make sense for you to get something better in return. two weapons would do

Hehe...
Two weapons would be nice, but considering I like a challenge, it will remain as just the Thermal Matrix.
(Although my intentions are for epic haxx... Hopefully sooner than later.)
((Am currently trying to figure out how to edit the weapons...))

However, that said, there will be an option later to trade the Thernal Matrix.
And getting the Thermal Matrix won't screw you out of the Hyper Matrix or the SA-IGR Matrix Cannon.

I don't really appreciate the spam posts, but popularity-wise, I'll be happy to rival Jenka's.

Anywho, update!
Check F&T.txt for what's new.

Spoils and riches
-Don't think that frame counter was there before...
-I can beat the Rotten Roast now, but having this much ammo with another weapon as backup is kinda overpowered. Maybe consider only giving some of the IGR upgrades if you choose to forego both the other weapons?
-Those Night Spirits take a long time to appear... the first one knocked me off the platform I was on... from behind :(
-Well this story is new... and this area is pretty easy, wonder why that would b...
-You didn't put a skipflag in there, did you :/ And you can't even save afterwards... Seriously dude, that's pretty basic stuff nowadays. Especially considering that the Fire Whirls kill you in ONE HIT. Not even going to bother trying that again (without hax) unless I can get back there more quickly.
-Regarding my second point: Especially now that you're giving that upgrade.

It says that's all for now so I'll roll with that.

Dang this is becoming a really good mod! :( Unfortunately, I have to leave in a few minutes so I don't have time to post comments but I will as soon as I can!

EDIT: alright comment time!

-Some custom music would be pretty sweet.
-I love how you put secrets even at the very beginning like the robot who gives you the expansion pack.
-I'm very glad you toned down the damage on the Curly/defense grid bullets. It's much more reasonable now, especially since it's the first boss in the mod.
-The moving block thing at the bottom of the orbit place was awesome.
-Grass growing on metal blocks looks quite odd and out of place. I think you should use a different tileset for that map in which the metal blocks are replaced with something a bit more organic looking.
-I love the rotten roast's sprite, although the fight itself is just m'eh.
-Autothresher is really fun.
-Is it possible to get to the computer that unlocks the door without bat/bug hopping? If it is, ignore this comment. If it's not, make it so. Requiring the player to "cheat" like that is really unprofessional.

I haven't gotten past the action level on the other side of the door yet, so that's all I can say for now. Keep up the good work! :(

lol
My brother also requested a skipflag for Primary
So, yeah.
I think I added it now.
If not, next time.
I just had some issues with the boss loading if you left the area, so I skipped it for the time being.
It still needs work, but it'll have to wait a day while I reformat my harddrive and reinstall windows. (Schedualed preventative measures...)

As for the Night Spirits, I'll admit to them being a last minute filler for an otherwise empty level.
But still, they're better than the original idea...
Which is being moved to a later level...
>_>
(Pure evil this way comes.)

IGR-wise, I woudln't worry too much about it being over-powered having 20 ammo.
Theorhetically you can get up to 60 in the latest version.
However, keep in mind that your toys may not always be with you.

The grass in HFarm is, well, intended to give the look of an overgrown garden in an otherwise sterile enviroment.
The reason I use the same blocks as the rest of the platform is that, simply, it is a part of the platform.

And of course it's possible to open the door without haxx.
Just gotta think like Mario.
;P

Anyways, that all said, I have a new version ready.
Not much has changed game-play wise, just a few changes.
Namely, I swapped a couple ORG's (Moonsong at the intro FTW!) and allowed access to a new menu (Mute).

Recent version, engage!
NAO!
