For the simpler solution...

NEWSFLASH!
I'm also setting to work on what I'm going to refer to as "ModPack", a large number of references, tools, and how-to's in a large bundle for, what else, modding Cave Story.

However, let it be noted this is BASIC modding, up to scripts and graphic edits.

Upon completion, I'll make it available via my website, and size allowing, the FTP.

Things that will be included:
Original Cave Story - To act as a reference base as well as an epic game.
Demo Story - A copy of Cave Story with nothing but a few sample maps with scripts.
Blank Story - A copy of Cave Story with no content except graphics, to serve as a blank slate starting point for future mods.
Mod Story - A modders-mod designed to make scripting easy.
Sue's - Just because it is the best tool (I find, at least) for basic modding.
TSC.htm - I'm going to update it with notes and sample scripts.
Hex Workshop -A demo copy, maybe.

Full steam ahead!

Work is now resuming on my mod, for great justice.
I've managed to work out the technical troubles around my ancient
(ATI Technologies Inc. RAGE 3D II+ PCI, circa 199X) graphics card (namely, by disabling it and running TDP/CS in the smallest window).

Some things have changed...
FlyLine and ImpactBOLD have been changed to one map, devolpment named GreenThumb.
Think...
Grasstown meets Sandzone.

Map system is now given at the start (not an item).

Various dialogue tweaks.

Various script... Adjustments.

Curly fight will remain as Curly.

In truth, Curly was just going to be a cameo, and much later in the game than the boss fight, but technical limitations have... Coerced me into making her a major plot element.

Part has been fixed.

THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER GENERAL REALEASES UNTIL THE NEXT STABLE VERSION.
Sneak-peeks on request.

Sure it's stable. But is it beatable?

Wahoo!
Update ahoy!
It's a sorta-kinda stable update.

Little note: to reach the 'end', you MUST take the Machine Gun, at least for now.
Also.
Penicillin - From the Rotten Roast. It may prove useful someday...

The story has taken a darker twist than I originally expected.
But yes.
It doesn't think, it doesn't feel.
It doesn't laugh or cry.
All it does from dusk 'till dawn
Is make the soldiers die.

I'm in ur threads, stealing ur red texts
-That text in the opening scene scrolls waaaaaaaaaaaaay too fast. Maybe you were going for some kind of effect but at the moment it just moves too quickly to leave any real imprint.
-Startin' again... still the same problem with the box critters near the start. Also, some indication of where I/we should backup profile.dat would be nice, because last time I saved in the XXXXXX area and then when you updated I was stuck there and had missed out on a bunch of new stuff.
-It's possible to miss getting those treasure boxes altogether...
-I'm not sure what the deal is with this next area (after getting the Chainlaser) but I'm pretty sure I missed a lot of it. Is there a reason the super-duper-slow elevator has all that area off to the right?
-In the Office?, the computer doesn't do anything, and the teleporter works even though the lights are off.
-You should use <PRI for events here rather than <KEY, because at the moment the Stumpies (I think they're called) keep flying around whenever you check a sign or something.
-Oh god it's alive, did NOT expect that o_O On that note, Gravity hasn't been used in a single fight yet, so I guess these are all 'hard' bosses :p Also if you die and spawn after defeating it, the room will play the victory-theme for some reason.
-Nothing at the Hydroponic Farm seems to actually DO anything yet (door to the Irrigation Control doesn't work, computer terminals don't work...), so I'm assuming this is as far as this update goes.

So yeah, not much to say really. I get the feeling that I've missed something but I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to be doing at the moment either. Otherwise the new stuff is all pretty good, especially the new boss, that thing looks awesome.

If you do get to the end, it gives a list of all the crap you can find, item and weapon-wise.
The opening is a work in progress. I can slow it down a little...
I fixed the victory theme thing too. Forgot to <CMU00XX after the fight.
As annoying as it sounds, I recomend going through once more. ^^;
A couple of tweaks in the early parts.
As for the boss, credit to Lyger, I think.
I lost the PM is was attached to, so if I'm wrong, lemme know.
And I think the key point was to just check out the area, not to actually play.
Was intended as more of a working, stable backup than a release.
Anyways, I've added 90% of the stuff you mentioned.
A safe place to resume from will be the Office, as the only things that have changed are timings and spelling/grammar/layout tweaks in the early parts.

As for the long elevator ride, I didn't want it to fall out from under your feet.
The large section of stuff to the right is to give you something to shoot at while you wait, if you want.
(Beats the hell out of elevator music. ;P)

Regarding <PRI/<KEY, I'll correct that. <KEY is just a habit. ^^;

And finally, I'd like you to note that I'm going for 'optional linear' playstyle, where there are a lot of things you *can* do, but very few things you *must do*.

Anywho, -insert updated link-.
Thanks again for the feedback, DT.
Ps. Didn't steal the Times New Roman.
Pps. Cheese, I'll see if I can upload it to RapidShit or something.
Or I can email it to you.
Ppps. I can fit the installer on a floppy!
Boo-ya-ka-sha!

Well, the new link works fine for some reason, so nvm. I'll [probably] post some comments once I've played through it.

Played it, awesome so far :D

A couple things:

In the cutscene after defeating
curly
there is a big wait followed by "Well...?" (or something along those lines). I thought that CS had froze there, it was so long. Either shorten it a little, or add something somehow to indicate that it is actually an awkward silence.

Swarm of mosquitos! I think there is a tile that quote can cross but enemies can't, I would use those to section off some of the mosquitos. I was swarmed for a little while and then they were all dead.

Last: is the installer really necessary? Seems like an unnecessary hassle on our part and on yours.

Only because I'm so nice :D
Quick notes:
-Nice memo in the Office? now.
-Heey, stuff is working! The Life Capsule still needs a <PRI.
-The music in the Staff Quarters is fixed but now if I die and reload there the screen is shaking, and so is the Hydroponic Farm.
-I have no idea what an Autothresher is or where to find one. If I enter the Irrigation Control Room then I can't even move, even after I activate the computer terminals. I got to the end with the Chainlaser (because you said we NEED it) but it seemed like the only way at the time. Help D:

Yeah, I'm going to shorten the post-Curly pause (by about 80%).
I'll consider tile 44-ing it up, for the mosquitoes.
And I make the installer by pressing 1 button on my start menu.
I *could* just ZIP/RAR it, if you really wanted.

o.o
I shall have to look into these glitches.
When I tested the Irrigation Control Room...
1.) Talk to the terminal.
2.) Talk to Jenka.
3.) Talk to terminal again.
4.) Boss fight.
5.) Iz finished.

Maybe I forgot an <END or something. ^^;
Once again, thank's for the feedback.
Will update/fix.

EDIT: Regarding the shaking, that's intentional. OR rather, it's supposed to be constantly shaking.

Hee hee hee!
I've done it!
It cost me my fucking sanity, but I've done it!
At long last!
The Defence Grid from the Curly fight is GLITCH FREE!
Ahahaha!
*Collapses with a moist thud, then resumes muttering through the floor*

Added the tile 44's (Quote only tiles) and shortened the Curly pause, at the behest of dooey.
And I fixed the Irrigation Control Room. Stupid use of the wrong tileset. >_>
<PRI's in place, too.

And I've also expanded the room after HFarm.
*Twitch*

Also, I've tweaked the blocks in LowCon at the bottom so they move properly.

Behold, the updated version, a lá fix.

EDIT: The Chainlaser is no longer required to reach the end.
And although it makes it so much easier, I'd suggest NOT taking it.

And something to consider when playing...

I don't know how much effort it takes on your part to create the installer, but it doesn't speed things up on my end.

I just like using the installer because it gives me a place to put credits (for now) and such nonsense.

As I said.
1 button.

Also, if you want to feel like an anachronism, I could send you a copy of my mod on 3 1/2" floppy. ;3

EDIT: Ooooh~ DragonBoots breaks with tradition and posts in 'GOLD'...
