No I don't because I can see my pink text perfectly on CaveStory lite. And you don't have to use the CaveStory skins, we have a total of 7 skins you can choose between. In fact I change which skin I am using once a week since looking at the same one over and over again gets boring.

I've never asked anyone to change their forum skin.

@XCalibar and the colour text issue: I don't think it's a good idea to use fixed colours for specific functions beacuse that WOULD make the forums too strict on colour issues. I don't think colours are a problem here >_> People can just easily highlight DOOM TEXT to see them, or text that are not easily seen against post backgrounds.

Why can't people have their own way of formatting their own posts? I mean why should we have rules to govern over anyone's way of expressing themselves? It's not like not using >>>> is gonna irritate to anyone >_>...

I understand that you love to use coloured text MetaSeraphim, but please, it's just plain selfish to make people change the way they like their forum to be just so that they can see your fancy fonts.

As I said people who have a hard time trying to figure out hard-to-see-text can just highlight the text. Not too hard to do, is it?

I think we've made our point on flaming now, but I would really prefer it if the BIG AND ANGRY posts would stop now since they mostly aren't saying anything that hasn't already been mentioned. In fact I think a lot of topics have been well-covered now, so once again I'd like to reiterate my first post and see if anybody has anything new to add at this point, otherwise this thread might be starting to outlive its meaningful stage. When I get some free time (like... Wednesay afternoon) I'll sift through the thread and write up a list of what's been discussed so far so it's all in one place for us to look at.

Anyway, ON THE TOPIC OF REALLY BIG WORDS IN POSTS: I don't mind if it's only done every so often and as long as the whole post isn't just comprised of it, but it is getting a bit prevalent at the moment (not pointing to anybody in particular). If someone uses it all the time it makes it difficult for other users to tell when they're being serious or not, and like everything else when it's used too much it starts to lose any sort of real meaning. Also it takes up a lot of space...
Please don't fight in my thread ._.

Edit: Also ON THE TOPIC OF WANTING/NEEDING A NEW MODERATOR: This probably needs its own thread now and I won't be making it, either way please don't bring it up here now, even if I did mention it in my first post and is what I took as my reason for making this thread. Although if you want a hint, "THE FORUMS NEED ANOTHER MOD, AND MOST PREFERABLY I THINK IT SHOULD BE MYSELF" probably won't make you very popular.

 

On the topic of big words. Once in a while won't work. Even when you use it as an example, it hurts my eyes *_* . But I think I can just ignore them just as you should when dealing with font colours that you despise

This is an interesting point you bring up and I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but until fairly recently (a year ago maybe?) this was really the only active forum on the Mirai Gamer/Gameflaws site, so everything just went on in here. Maybe the Satellite Lounge would be more appropriate if it weren't the designated spam forum, and I don't think I should have made this thread in Forum Announcements/Rules because I'm not a mod/admin and I wasn't making any announcements or rules (this is just a discussion thread after all).

I don't really have an opinion on the subject since I don't mind having this kind of talk on the Cave Story forums bit since it just seems the most natural to me. I mean really, there's only so much about Cave Story to talk about so it's nice to change it up every so often, and under normal circumstances most of the threads are about CS anyway. This is also the most commonly-visited forum and I'm sure there are some people who don't go to the Satellite Lounge at all so important things might not get seen there. This is the forum where postcount... er... counts, and where the majority of important things happen, so I don't mind having topics like this here as long as that's the case.

Problem is that no-one frequents that forum. And while it does not relate to cave story it does relate to the cave story forum.

 

Coloured text goes nowhere in defining the poster's personality anymore. It did for DB, but that was because everyone had differnt ways to express their senses of uniqueness. Like ris posting like a girl, Metalogz acting all retarded, Jacob behaving completely pissed all the time, and andwhy being the no-nonsense mediator in arguments. But now that more people have been colouring text, any new member will find it repulsive to read or reply to posts which seem to change in appearance at every mouse-click.

Maybe we could distinguish forum rules to forum ethics, with the former being tips on how not to get banned and the latter being ideas how to have other members not dislike you. Trolling and arrogance are hard to define, so they should go under forum ethics while spamming and flaming are easily spotted once you have a concrete definition for them, therefore they go under forum rules.

 

Seconded. Seriously, if someone tells you that what you're doing bothers them, and asks you nicely to stop, show some respect.

Oh, and if you do use color, boldfacing helps people to see your posts in skins where it's hard to read.

Technically nothing can be done about it, but a problem is still a problem and I don't see how we can sort it out without a compromise on either side. <_<

As for the color issue, I would just say lighten up on it, because you can just highlight the person's text to see it, no?

Yeah I'm not too worried about casual good-natured stuff for the most part, just endless and essentially meaningless one-line posts that ruin threads. Oh and flaming/trolling but I don't think anybody likes that >_> I only brought it up because it's really starting to become an issue, and if you read through the thread you'll find that a lot of people agree with me.
