Either way, you can't make a rule about colours. If someone wants to stick to being stubborn with some pointless idea, fine. I don't see how colour adds character or life because all it does is makes you want to skip the post, but technically it's completely within rules and ethics.
This. Thisthisthisthisthisthisthis! This... is probably how I should have worded it to begin with ._.
I have nothing wrong with colours or using them occasionally but using them all the time simply doesn't add any character or emotion; in fact it takes away from it, since if somebody starts using a colour/colours all the time, it becomes 'their' colour and if anybody else uses it it would have no meaning for them. There can be plenty of colour on forums in avatars and signatures (like I said earlier, if you put colours in here they will still be seen every time you post), and the forum style can be changed too if it needs mixing up. If you think colours are needed to show off some personality, they really aren't, all they do are create inequalities. But banning colours is just silly so it is up to the users to see this for themselves (although by all means ban that colour-changing text :< ). Although I guess since DB has been doing it since he joined and the issue has only just come up he has an excuse.

Also maybe could we focus on more pressing issues than text colour, if there are still any that haven't been addressed already >_> But please no silly stuff in my thread.

I was referencing the out-of-control spambot running around atm. It's ridiculous, SkyeWelse could probably sue over it if he needed some cash. I hope users can just be totally deleted so the posts won't have to be one at a time x_x

Edit: BRAINWAVE LIKE THE MOTHERFUCKING FIST OF THE NORTH STAR (JESUS CHRIST): A really good way to discourage spamming and such might be to have a time limit on the amount of time between posts, like 5 minutes or something. Not discussing any specifics yet but after seeing this I think it's kind of freaking needed :X

Also somebody trustworthy please email SkyeWelse >_>

You would think wish that you could sue over stuff like that, but sueing someone who spams forums is like sueing the people who send the "XXX sites, get a bigger penis, etc, etc e-mails to your e-mail.

Sadly the only way to stop spammers like that is to have active admins.

Oh by the way, why is everyone suddenly spamming threads for minor issues? XristosX? 1st May Month and you make a thread out of it. Roonil? Wtf? I don't get this. Thread spam is worse than post spam.

Seriously wtf?

This needs a revival.
Sorry I didn't post for so long but I figured that everybody had had their say and that the forums had started to normalize again of their own accord. Then Kag showed up again and reminded me why I made this thing in the first place - to stop bad posters from running rampant and screwing up the forums for everyone else.

So, a super-quick re-cap of everything everyone has said and what the common opinion seems to be:

Deliberate thread spamming - It's bad, don't do it, full stop. Off-topic does not necessarily = spamming.
Very dark or light-coloured text - It gets annoying and it makes the forums hard to read. Okay to use sometimes. Seems to not be a problem anymore.
Bumping of topic for no great reason - Frowned upon. Only bump if there's something to add and it's not practical to just make a new one.
Trolling - Ban it.
Location names - Not so long that they stretch the forum page out.
HUGE TEXT - Don't use it all the time, it gets annoying, just like coloured text.
Really short posts - sort of akin to spamming, don't just makes little posts all the time, especially if they're just to take pot-shots at other users you don't like (there has been a lot of this lately).
Flaming - Don't do it, no excuses really.
Doom Text - Don't do it all the time.

ADDITIONS:
On the subject of spam (and I touched on this waaaaaaay back in my firstest post), I personally find it really annoying when a poster ignores a large/significant portion of a thread to respond to something much earlier in it and only end up posting a witty tag-line or joke/thinly-veiled insult. This is especially the case when they skip over long posts because they're often the most important ones.

Oh, and lay the fuck off Jacob already. All of you >_>

JUSTIN AGREES. Not that it matters.
Trolling - Ban it.
No. A warn would do at most. But ban? No.
HUGE TEXT - Don't use it all the time, it gets annoying, just like coloured text.
Irregular usage is better than regular usage.
Really short posts - sort of akin to spamming, don't just makes little posts all the time, especially if they're just to take pot-shots at other users you don't like (there has been a lot of this lately).
If the receiver doesn't mind it, I don't see why you should.
Flaming - Don't do it, no excuses really.
Yeah.
Doom Text - Don't do it all the time.
Yeah, its pretty dumb.

Not sure what this one is about.. I'll come back to it later.

Agreed. Flaming should not be allowed, though arguments/debates are.

Agreed. Doom text should be an occasional thing.

I'm not against spamming unless:
  • It is the repetition of what has already been said by the same user
  • Multi-posting (Double posting, Trple posting, Quadruple posting etc...)
  • Flaming and insults

I'm not against that at all. I find it fine to me. =/

I love really short posts. Expecially if they're witty. It adds humour to this forum ._. So long as they don't contain SERIOUS insults. *hint* *hint*

Yay!

I don't mind it being used all the time xD

I don't mind people who reply to something way far back in the thread because it's still on-topic stuff. However, I only get annoyed if they do so only to insult that far back post and de-rail the whole discussion into something that was already discussed way far back into the past present bable ramble blah dunno lol.

NO. DO NOT lay the fuck off Jacob already. All of you >_>

OMG!

Unless there's a good reason, such as reaching a quote limit or something.

Also, I thought the policy here was to resurrect threads rather than starting a new one?

It is but you see people just visit 1000+ centuries old mod threads saying "Dead? OMFG T_T".

When you're starting a new thread you're bound to have something constructive to say, and therefore you can bump without being questioned.

And you people should lay off Kageryushin =.=

Jacob has been as rude and arrogant to people, NEW people especially. Although he rarely ever means what he says, the case is the same with j00shin. I don't see where you make the difference between the two, Double.
