Okay Metalogz.

But There Will Be No Ban On This Forum.
Well, Maybe If Someone Trolls.

But Posting 20 Posts Who Are All 2 Sentences Long In 4 Hours is Spam.

I know this is a super serious thread, but I can't resist saying this:

@ SP

EPIQUE PHAIL

EDIT:lol k, I know that was off-topic, but seeing Metalogz's point it'd really suck to be completely serious everywhere and spam is only when 4+ posts branch out to a discussion after off-topic posts.

@metal The guy who bigsize the most is Jake, but just forgive him. I don't really care, but dunno what others think.

@SP-san I think you have to clarify your exact opinion on what trolling is.(to compare it with others, and to make sure I won't make a mistake that results in me charged with trolling)

And I need to ask something. Is something like

considered spam? 'cause IMO it is, but partly. I do also think that grammar is quite essential for most of us especially English which is real required almost anywhere(except for some in Japan, or Russia whatsoever). So should (unintentional) grammar errors be pointed out and corrected or should we leave them as they are? I know this is kinda out of topic and out of forums actually, but it kinda bugs me to read grammatically wrong ideas even if I get the point, 'cause I may not fathom the real feeling or sincerity of the posters who sucked their grammar test papers into their pants.

1. I thinque it pwns really, as long as it isn't spammage.

2. IMO what Kageryushin used to do wasn't outright trolling, but most seem to disagree with me so we do need to settle on a definition.

3. As it is the CS community is very small, and now if you go on restricting it to only those fluent in one language, you aren't going to get too far. Leave the errors as they are as long as the other person gets the point.

4 (edit). That wasn't the best thing to say when we're talking about trolling, because a lot of people might call you a troll for that -.-

Take this seriously guys, please. Also, quit coming up with rule ideas that will allow you to all continue spamming.

To SP:
Any chance of that CS Forum Rules thread?

Wow, some people actually agree with me o_O Sorry I didn't post here yesterday, I had a Maths exam in the morning and I was very tired all day. But I don't think any rules should be written up as long as there's still conversation going on in this thread.

ON THE SUBJECT OF TROLLING: Trolling can often be difficult to pinpoint, mostly because a lot of trolls will never actually admit that they ARE trolling, or when they do they try to convince everybody else that they weren't being serious. Generally it's easy to figure it out after a while if they keep doing it but that defeats the purpose of stopping it in the first place. I think Kag may have lightened up after a while but he was certainly trolling a lot when he first joined. I would guess the best thing to do from a rules perspective is probably is ask them to stop if it happens, and if they don't, delete their posts so that they don't get the attention they seek, since there's not much to be done otherwise unless the/an admin shows up.

ON THE SUBJECT OF REALLY SHORT POSTS: There's nothing wrong with making a joke or wanting to post but not having much to say, this only becomes an issue when 2 or more users starting posting really fast back and forth, driving the topic of conversation into the ground and causing other members to lose their place, as well as missing things that others might post along the way or edits they might make because they're only responding to one another. I'm not saying users can't talk to each other obviously but if it goes on for more than 4 posts (2 posts each) then it really starts to mess the thread up and they should probably take it to PM or something.

@ Metalogz: Kind of what Andwhy said, it's not so much the spam itself as it is that it's starting to really clog the forums up, sometimes it can go on for pages without getting anywhere, although I wouldn't say you're one of the main offenders at least anymore. I don't think you should worry too much since as far as I can see you don't try to insult anybody and have shown you can contribute in other ways.
Also ever since you joined I have been calling you Megalotz, my apologies :(

None of them are related to cave story. They should all be moved.

NO offense but whenever you bring up the subject of Kageryushin you start an all out flamewar. Can you please refrain from bringing it up.

There needs to be a specific set of rules or people will find loopholes, disregard rules, or become utterly confused with the current set of rules.

I was referring to what other members had mentioned and was using him as an example, I'm over it now, geez. There has been much worse going on since he left.

EDIT: And a definition of what flaming is would be nice too, since it seems to get thrown around a awful lot.

Flaming: Using irritatingly large and bold text to awfully insult someone in a not-playful manner. Especially so when it is in the form of spam ><

@ Bold: No, that is playful flame-spamming and not flaming. Flaming is an unprovoked use of abuses/insults in a discussion which would have developed into something constructive.

@ Underlined: Compare with bold. Playful flame-spamming is use of insults/abuses with a prior agreement (whether expressed in posts, or by the context itself) to not take offence, although this goes under the listing of the offence: spamming.

A proper description goes here. End it with a period.

I've been thinking about this for a while and I think text should be color coded depending on the type of information. And Bold should be used for important information, italic used for hidden themes, and size used for formatting.

We all should shall abide by this single new format. Let me give an example :

Summary of Paragraph : An Example of the New Standard

>>>> Yellow text denotes an impending important statement, such as a warning or verb type fact. Always use four of these ">>>>" to begin a new paragraph. DeepSkyBlue is reserved for explanations for a noun type fact. Adding those ">>>>" at the beginning of a paragraph allows clarity of presentation. As long as we follow these Commandments, we will coexist peacefully. When dealing with opinions use pink. I like obeying the admins. And blue is reserved for non-opinion information. I will rule the world. Do you remember what yellow stands for? End each sentence with : "End." in italic. This will lead to a happier more productive society for official Cave Story members. End.

Summary of Post : Anybody caught not following the standards may be subject to face the Skywelse Tribunal of Crownbearers. (SP, Chie, Chaco, and Curly the four kings of the people's free choice future robot army.)
May judgement be right and swift.

Addendum :
1) EDIT will now be known as Addendum. Use Size=3 for this.
2) THOSE FOUND IMPERSINATING MALCO WILL BE SHOWN NO MERCY.

Why the heck should I take the time to write out the word Adendam and probably spell it wrong when I can just write [EDIT] (and [EDIT] is the correct form when you have made an edit to a post, I INVENTED the use of [edit], so I would know)
The use of [EDIT] is faster and easier. A nice thought though!
Size 3 is my default...

lol funny.

And about colours: At first when only DB was using red I thought it was pretty cool. Everyone else used normal font, but other than the innovative spammy characteristic, his colour defined him as well. But now when 75% of the active members have begun colouring their text it's not only lame and hard to read, but also rather messy in the forums. Since this has reached this point, I really hope someone makes a rule about coloured text.

Wrong. Your normal non-colored text is making the forum messy and look like shit. Colored text gives the forum life, personality, and style. I hope a rule is made against normal, lame, stupid, no life, no personality text.

And to be honest (and joke-killingly serious) DB's red text had personality, the rest don't.

To DB: First the Why Style and now this? I admit the Why Style was awesome but you have a habit of setting trends don't you? :D

I've always used colored text on every forum I've gone too, I wasn't doing it because he was.

And normal text has no personality, in fact it makes the forum look lifeless and boring.
