Mod Art Help

A bit late on this one, but you should also look at the way the heads are shaped in Pixel's artwork. The big anime eyes work because the figure is entirely cartoony, adding cartoon features to a realistic figure(and vice versa) makes them take a dive in the uncanny valley.

You've told me before that you have little artistic experience, so all i can say is that you need to get better or try using the standard cave story sprites as bases.

I will try my best to make the head shape less realistic.

Edit: Here's some changes to the face size (As well as some other minor edits that I made during the wait for a response) some of the changes are rather subtle on the ones that I do not feel are too terribly realistic.

Uhh, that's why I'm asking here, because I did all that.

I am really drawing at a blank of what to draw some certain character as.
I have no template and NO ideas. It's really stressing me out.
Is there anyone who can help me out by starting the head outline?

On a more serious note, try tracing an outline of Kazuma's face and hair in black pixels, and make the rest white.

 

Well I actually wanted this person to look more like curly (The person is male).

Unless you're going to be using the exact same hair/clothes/etc you may as well edit Curly anyway.

Well the main part was the hair tbh, and clothes. I needed something to freshen me up.

 

Alright, been trying to take a different direction in the portraits for Jenn's Journey. Experimentation and all. No bases. I'll be dumping what I've made in the last two or so days. Tell me if you can get the expression/emotion I'm trying to have Jenn invoke here.

Also tried making them as large as they'd probably be in-game. Probably off on that, but whatever.

From other folks, they've told me about the Scarf in particular. Not really looking like a scarf, more like a shirt. Actually speaking of the shirt, I'm trying to work that in there without having it blend in with her hair. Gah.

Change it around if you want, give advice, the usual stuff.

 

The lips are a bit hard to read but I can tell what the expressions are.

I've done some color edits to make the character's palette more appealing. and posted the new palette on the left and the old one on the right. See if you can see what I did differently.
