• Hey everyone happy Christmas Eve we're aware of what's happened with the source code so to keep this simple absolutely don't post it on the site or use it to make mods with (it's not particularly preferable toward this end anyway) and tread lightly in general until we see how this settles, thanks to all and have a great holiday season -DT

I don't really mind. Someone else will.
I thought about reworking this a while back, but I'm currently pouring all my linguaphileness into making a crazy language for a group of dwarves in my conworld.
By all means, go ahead if you want to build such a language, I'll warn you if you're breaking any universals or somesuch. :D

Oh, the orthography would be freakishly regular, as I doubt the mimigas would have a computer-translatable script. Therefore, the orthography would be whatever we made up for it, and thus simple, as it' what you guys seem to be leaning towards.

Just an idea for syllable structure afore I go:

CV(n/r)

ie, necessary cons, necessary vowel, optional n or r. Very close to japanese, as it should be, but the r makes it sorta cool.

Examples:
- Mimiga
- Kanpachi
- Silun
- Porno

etc

I think that instead of words we should have 3 different delay lengths. Sorta like how morse code separates letters and words.

In the below example @ is the first symbol and % is the second.

@% = short delay.
@-% = medium delay.
@ % = long delay.

The delay length should affect how symbols relate to each other. Or maybe a medium delay should relate groups of symbols and a long delay should break the relation between symbols or groups, but that would be creating words yet again. *sigh*

Mabye it should be a code, like pushing all the letters forward one, but having a few letters stay the same. (I.E. the ones that make up mimiga.)

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
A G I M

And then push them all over...

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
AZBCDEGFIHJKMLNOPQRSTUVWXY

So, 'I rodaj Mimirf (Miqial)' would translate to 'I speak Mimish (Mirian).'

EDIT: here, have a 'the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.' for people who are too lazy.
Sfd ptibj zqnvl enw htmor nudq sfd kayx cng.
mabye we should build off that, so the word with no vowels would make sense.( or at least be pronouncable.)
I.E. 'Sufed(sfd) putibuj(ptibj) ziquinvil(zqnvl) eneu(enw) hitmoor(htmor) nudque(nudq) sufed(sfd) kayix(kayx) cinge(cng)'

That is not a language. It would probably be better as a spoken language before it would make sense as a written language.

It would be a language, but it would still be a language built off of the english language and hence not an original language.

[EDIT]: Actually, you're right, it's too based off of english to be considered a seperate language. Seems more like a secret code almost.

It would take a lot of work (and time) to create an original language suited to the mimigas.

I just think it's silly myself to create this if no one is going to use it. Seems like a lot of work for nothing.

'S called a cipher if you don't make new words, grammar, whatever.
Codeattically, it's also called a cipher, also translated as "really easy to break code".

That is a cypher, not a language.

Yeah. Well, couple hours of my life officially wasted.
Darn, passed up a bowling trip for that.

EDIT: Was it actually any good?

Ouch. That was painful. At least no misspellings or anything else to add insult to injury, right?
