Seriously, this is getting pretty off-topic. Back on track: who does not agree that Quote is protected by metal, not flesh? It doesn't matter if he has organs on the inside, but if his skin is metal, then the hearts should be nanobots. So, who thinks that Quote is fleshy?

What makes you think the Last Cave is hot? Quote is probably just made of some kind of metal that can stretch when you run electricity through it.

To serve as an obstacle, of course. But seriously, why would any liquid drip from a cave's ceiling? Only water would make sense, but water 1) is not red, and 2) does not harm robots (only in large quantities).

Anyways, the Last Cave is apparently one big hot spot, and there's Magma {that's Lava before being exposed to the surface} all around, trying to get out...

That could explain why the Last Cave can change....

 

The Last Cave can change because it's a figment of Quote's imagination. Ballos's madness, which is seeping out of Sacred Ground because the Core almost died, is affecting Quote's mind, and Ballos uses it to devise obstacles within Quote's mind. That's why it changes. If Quote has done a lot more stuff, then Ballos tries harder to stop him, so that he can't get ot Sacred Ground and kill him.

Ballos WANTS to die.
He's waiting for the one person {Curly and Quote, actually} that can put an end to his miserable life and finally destroy his magic...

And before you ask, "Why does he fight you, then?", that's probably his magic taking over him, hence his horrid transformations...

 

I think he just want a good battle before he died.
