Troylol, otherwise known as Minty, otherwise known as cheeseburger, otherwise known as the Cave Story Encore dev guy, got KIDNAPPED!! By a really bad dude! The INCREDIBLE EVIL!!!! THIS IS REALLY bad guys like I'm being so for real right now. We need your help!! The Incredible Evil plans to STEAL Cave Story Encore, and every Cave Story mod ever made, and remake it in his EVIL image! Do you understand how bad this is!! I'm freaking the heck out!!! I like making Cave Story mods!! Ohh....I'm gonna cry...sniff...Don't LOOK AT ME I'M TRYING NOT TO I SWEAR!!!!!

So yeah we need you help and I think it'd be pretty freakin' shweet if you took up arms because I like modding Cave Story and The Incredible Evil smells kinda bad at least he did the last time I saw him so I don't want to have to make it in his image because I'd cry really hard and it'd ruin everything because I'm working really hard on this other mod I'm making and I don't want to throw it all away for the Incredible Evil because I've been working on it for SO LONG like geez imagine that

Anyway, so, basically, what I'm tryna say, is, we got some questing, to do, for an Encore. What is this, some kind of EncoreQuest?

It's mostly a bunch of inside jokes of the Encore Discord server (Encore being a recreation of CS. It's a server for one mod and not the main Modding server). Not entirely sure why it was posted here.

No, it's not just "Encore server inside jokes", there's other jokes in here too. Half of these jokes were only inside jokes in the server  because of EncoreQuest. I think the only real area with the inside jokes is the house at the start, which is mostly just a bunch of funny pictures we occasionally repost. Otherwise every other joke, aside from the 'secret' boss fight and ending scenes, are original to this mod and mostly me just fooling around. I guess the main cast being the Encore devs might come off as an inside joke thing too but it's mostly just because I made it in that server while those people were in the call providing feedback and suggestions.

Yinty, Analogue Horror, and The Incredible Evil (despite already existing before EncoreQuest) were all jokes that started from this mod. They were created for this mod, and the following two mods (Yinty's Job Application and Santa's Dating Sim, though Santa's Dating Sim was started around the same time as EncoreQuest) were made after EncoreQuest and were based on it.

I posted it here because I can, I don't know why I shouldn't have. It's relatively fun on it's own, even people I sent it to who didn't get all the jokes still enjoyed it.

 

Aight so apart from the inside jokes I didn't get, the level design was actually pretty solid! I loved the camera focus joke in the Evil HQ, as well as the 'platforming challenge' there with the currents. And the initial segment recreated the exhilarating feeling of just running and shooting through Egg Corridor. Nice.

 

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I tried to make it somewhat fun but tbh I didn't put a lot of effort into it in some places because I hardly took the thing seriously while making it BUT I did have fun making it and it was a week's worth of time I spent on it, so I'm happy that it was somewhat worth it I guess.

Also try out Dr. Glaucous mod called "Yinty's Job Application", which is a prequel to EncoreQuest. And Samantha&K's "Santa Dating Sim" which takes place in the same universe and features some familiar faces.
