Re: Community Project: Diety Project

Hey, sorry I didn't mention this earlier, but I've made some tiles for a log cabin and for the breakable barriers, and was thinking of using the grass from grasstown as the outside.

And I think we should make Zack and Seth more... unusual.
Maybe a criminal background? Make them hilariously unsympathetic characters.

Remember that we need to stay consistent with theme. Are we going for srs bsns and a mouthful of grit, or something a touch more zany/lighthearted? Or somewhere inbetween? The character personalities thematically meld with the rest of the game, lest we create mood dissonance.

@Noxid: Axe Cop is better than everything.
@Marx: The characters sound like there young teenagers. But you went for a reason for charcter being there before fitting a backstory in. It's not a bad thing, I just can't remember the last time I saw that. Also, it's an isolated cabin in the mountains, near a mining tunnel where zombies are coming out. What you wrote might fit for another map.
@Jed37: Uh... I may have already started the cabin tiles.

Hey! What about a system that allows you to switch weapons with others when you have too many? That way you can play however you want!

Oh yeah. How many weapons should there be max? If each gun doesn't level up we could probab;y do quite a few, if level ups are purchesed, then 7. They probably would need to have limited ammo so you have a need to buy new ones. That reminds me, we must make up the weapons so I can draw chalk outlines of them on the tiles.

We could have a compromise; level ups may act kinda the same, but could have differences as well. Like rapid fire.

Re: Community Project: Diety Project

I think we should avoid a purchase system (leveling could be okay though), though don't think we should go -too- overboard on the weapon selection. We want to make sure the arsenal at hand is fairly balanced so they'll all get played. If we make too many, then it's inevitably going to reach the point where a large handful will almost NEVER be used and everyone favors that one OP weapon.

Re: Community Project: Diety Project

Good point, maybe we should stick with 7 at most.
the mystery box idea still sounds interesting though.

That's not entirley what I meant. If it ends up being a better weapon then you just use your points to buy it, if it ends up upgrading your current one, you would need to purchase said upgrade from a vendor or something. I don't think they can level up like normal because at some point we thought the chips enemies drop would be the points system. A thought just occured. An item you could buy that makes the chips bounce in your direction so picking them up is easier.

EDIT: Didn't see your post Cripple. The purchase system is neccesary to Nazi zombies for more reasons than weapons upgrades. Opening up new areas, turning the power on, soda machines, etc... It all revolves around how many points you have. Weapons will be pretty diverse to keep things down to how you play, but perhaps 10 would do. Didn't someone figure out how to increase the max amount of weapons at some point?

Re: Community Project: Diety Project

I haven't read through this thread yet but I'll just say that community projects have been attempted multiple times in the past and none of them have ever ever gotten close to even starting properly

On the other hand I can probably pull some story-type stuff out of my nose if you want

Sorry, Matt. Didn't know you'd actually started yet. My bad.
Anyway, here's what I've got so far. Needs a roof. Please notice the destructable barriers.

Mine was clearly done with a different thought on what it should look like. Let the people decide! (Note: I know mine isn't finished.)
