Cave Story's Music(How can Quote hear it?)

Pretty self-explanatory. How can Quote hear the game's music? Surely it's not just music bouncing off the cave walls out of the air.

The music exists on a third dimensional plane, Quote is unable to hear it. For all we care, he's probably listening to whatever the fuck is popular back in 2004.

 

How can Quote hear the game's music?

There is no indication in-game ('textual evidence' as they call it) that Quote, or indeed any other character, can hear the music.

 

quote was programmed to automatically play music that fits whatever situation or location he's in. whenever he walks by another character they hear Gestation fade in and out

 

If it was something emitted loud enough for others to hear it would make sense as like an engineer's debugging feature of "Alerting testers / users to what mood the machine is in" or some other equivalent way of communicating an aspect of the "Black box" that would be a robot as sophisticated as him

Unless quote is meant to be a remote piloted robot, in which it might just be to keep the attention of the person in the pilot seat... nobody in the future will be able to focus without something to keep them attentive.

What about Cave Story 3D? Is it in the 4th dimensional plane then?

Wait... What if it's like how NASA can hear planet sounds using magnetic and electric fields from the planets, so therefore what if the island is just a planet and the sections of the game have their own magnetic and electric fields and Quote would be the special tools they use to hear the sounds.

While it is called Cave Story 3D, and, granted, the top screen of the 3DS is really two screens interlaced over each other, the actual display for the game, as well as the platforming itself, are still two dimensional, and even then, should a video game ever call itself "4D" like how some movies call themselves "4D", it would still be on a third dimensional plane outside of the game itself (i.e. smellovision, a bluetooth connected water spray system, or even that little speaker that the wiimote had).
