Cave Story Flash Project

The last part was hilarious. But I don't think cerealkiller plans on doing the whole "narration" thing.

It would be interesting to have the option of subtitles and then have them inside of the text box (maybe portraits too?)

This is just an idea. I think the text box will take up a lot of the screen so probably scratch that.

 

You'd need to have a downsized version of the text box, and subtitles should only used for foreign languages. And a portrait would be redundant since you can see the speaker's face quite clearly.

Yeah I realize that. I was just throwing out an idea, not a suggestion.
Whatever works though.

 

My idea for the introduction to each episode was the actual menu of Cave Story, with "New" being selected the first time and "Load" being selected every time after that. You could also replace the cinematic opening of Cave Story (Doctor, Demon Crown, Misery and Balrog) with a foreboding clip or a recap of last episode.

I dunno, the last episode recap would be fine if we were doing an anime series (isn't that redundant?), but a flash series? BTW, what's a "foreboding clip"

I want to foreshadow something of what's going to happen that episode. You have to be really vague, but it helps to ensue the viewer will stick around for the whole thing.
But really, the only reason I suggested it is because in the actual game, there's a few seconds of a foreboding cinematic. It seemed like it would fit.

 

I think that it would be best w/o a recap or foreshadowing. I feel that it would make it too much like a tv series. My origional thought was that you could watch all of them in a sequence and have it be like a movie rather than a series.

Yeah, that's the the best idea. I was just spitballing. But I think an intro or something (like the main menu idea) should be implemented, because going right into the movie every time would be awkward, in my opinion.

 

I actually think that making this as a series would be better. It is already being splitted and produced successively, and viewing a movie like this is rather bothersome. And I had that idea with that credit roll...

Yes of course, but like I said, I don't want each episode to stray too far from the last (ie an intro every episode, delaying the actual piece)

The main menu idea is short and to the point. The recap and whatnot is unnecessary.

 

Again, what are we going to do about the script?
Should we just start writing another one, go with the already written one w/o permission and hope he says yes, or delay the animating until we know whether or not we have permission. :/

 

I say just use his. There's no copyright on it, and what else would it be used for?
