Cave Story Flash Project

Well, cerealkiller, it's time to do voice recording, now that we have a script. Here's how I usually do it:
Make sure everyone has a script (easy enough)
Get them to record their lines by themselves. It doesn't need to be over Skype or whatever.
Use the audio files you like; if there are any you don't want ot use, tell the actor to redo them or find a new actor. Sounds harsh, but we're not going to settle for less.
Animate the thing.

I'd like to help draw a few things but my Flash computer isn't always available, so I wouldn't be very reliable for that.

 

before doing that, don't you think we should edit the script to our liking?

 

If we're using Atravir's script, don't change it unless he says you can. That's plagarism, even if you say that you edited the script in the credits.

I tried to send Atravir an email, using an adress I found on his webpage. Hope he'll get it.

 

I refrained from using that email because it's for an entirely different purpose, but I guess we have to get his attention somehow. Hopefully he doesn't come in here all like "RHLKSGAJNGHAGR WTF ARE YOU DOING WITH MY SCRIPT".

 

Maybe I should help... I can draw and make music.

Sorta... Never tried animating though.

 

Let's see...

*Picture of main character on the ground. The antenna on his hat is shaking*

Kazuma: "Sue? Sue! Where are you?"

*Return to picture of Main Character*

*He wakes up and screams*

*He gets up*

Main Character: "Where am...I? Who am I? How did I end up here?"

It's a good script but it's a bit weird that kazuma is talking to the computer while he's trapped in a shelter by himself. It might be better to just show that text on a computer like a chat room. If you were to do that little bit in the style of a live video chat, I don't think that would work either cause in that first scene, Sue doesn't seem to be at the computer at the time.

 

Start it out just showing the screen with the typing, then pane/zoom away and show him and then start an opening sequence.

 

I like that idea, Fire, but how would we associate Quote into that? Would he still pick up the signal of would we cut that out altogether?

Also, how would we do an opening w/o revealing any of the plot?
The opening of the game starts out with the docor so I think we should add that in before Kazuma's scene.

What about completing the whole thing and releasing it as a whole movie with scene selection. (and maybe independet episodes.)

Can you imagine the size of that file? Maybe if someone converted it to avi it would be acceptable, but flash...

like Mario bloopers and stuff.

Would it be possible to have one flash that accesses each part individually?
And while the first one plays the second one loads and as the second plays the third one loads etc?

 

I guess that would be possible.
Or you could insert a Preloader and while the movie plays it loads the Rest.

I have a mic, and in a bit, Skype.

I should be able to do anything you want me to from like 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM EST (-5).

 

Have you considered which parts you'd like to try out for?

 

No. My voice sounds like four years younger when it's recorded, apparently.

And Skype says my mic is quiet, but it sounds fine to me. I could use a second opinion.
I can boost it, too, but then there's static in the background.

 

Well, I can't get on Skype right now, but later, when you said you were available, I can. And we could use a young-sounding person for Quote. (Kind of an important role, no?)

I'll try to get on, and also Quote is an important role because we can't think of any way for him to be a silent protagonist.
