Uhh, well I'm not trying to cause a war here, but your picture looks better imo.

I mean like...way better...
I'm sorry but no, it's not.
It's a good shot and I respect an honest effort but there are some issues with the fundamentals that make this pretty clearly a novice piece. Given enough practice I'm sure you could do well though.

Thanks for the compliment Bombchu, but I agree with Noxid here. I've been drawing for years now, but I don't consider myself much of an 'artist', just someone who draws in their free time. I don't draw any underlines, or finish with pen or any of that stuff the professionals do, I just draw. And that's how I do it. Sable, on the other hand, knows how art works, so that's why his art has more...well fundamentals than mine does. I just like to put in detail. That's about it though.

It's a war you're going to lose, since your entirely wrong/the opposite of what you said is true.

And as Noxid said, Nadojin, your picture is a beginner level work but with work you probably could improve.

Depends on the meaning of "wrong", which can be interpreted differently depending on what everyone's definition of "right" is. If art is a subjective manner, then no one's opinions can be right or wrong about their reactions to Nadojin's image.

Now if you are going for a more accurate representation of the human head to body size proportion, then yes, the body looks a tad big. But there are other features that you seem to have put more effort into, such as the shading and details. I think those things do work concept art-wise, but of course, changes should be made if the character is to go in the final product of the game, which I see is already being dealt with.

It is detailed, yes. However the pose is stiff, the anatomy is off (although when isn't it) and the shading is basic.

However, if there is nothing but positive feedback with no remarks for potential improvement, the artist will do nothing but stagnate and fail to improve. There may not be a wrong opinion, but there are plenty of wrong ways to express that opinion, or fail to follow-up on that opinion.

I'm fairly certain it' a NSFW blog (And I'm at work on a lunch break atm, so I can't look for an example), but there's a collection of art from deviantart and similar sites somewhere including pieces of artwork that have incredible shading and detail, but the body anatomy is so comically terrible that it wholly distracts from the image's overall 'quality'. This is the would-be result of shrugging off problem areas in art because you think the artist would be discouraged by a pile of critiques, or however else you feel you shouldn't express the flaws. Not to mention artists can begin to shun and ignore real critique as opposed to foot-kissing if they're put under the impression they're Picasso for long enough.

You disapprove of people who think of themselves as artists?

Maybe I'm overreacting. It just seemed like you were taking a stab at people who call themselves artists rather than hobbyists.

I thought they were all but interchangeable. (artist is a higher rank, but yeah)

Yeah, It's a wonder how Kazuma can even ride it with the dragon's tiny wings.

And yeah, you're welcome.

For some odd reason I don't think that It can flap it's wings up and down 52 times a second.

Yeah, And I think some (most?) dragons have actual hands/claws at the end of their wings, Because in this case, the wings are attached to the arms.
