A toaster would make a sound when it's done toasting. Something like "huzzah!" (or not).

Does this mean that Balrog likes toast? Or does he just make toast? Is he forced to make toast for Misery?

Once upon a time and old witch called Jenka told her daughter, Misery to make toast for dinner. But Misery was playing on the computer and didn`t want to help her mother. Instead, she charmed the toaster and made it alive. And they lived happily ever after...ok I`ll stop...

My friend says TOASTER for Balrog is "too fat to be a suitcase"
My other friend says SUITCASE
I myself say Pixel's suitcase fell into a blender and his toaster tried to help but fell in too. The toaster's name was Ballox and the suitcase, for some reason, was name Dasrog -- Pixel got ideas from this.
The resulting dregs of toaster/suitcase juice/blood were named Daslox and didn't make a very good smoothie at all.

Balrog is "a squarish thing" because rectangles are easy to draw, which is why Pixel likes drawing them. I doubt Pixel even knows what Balrog is. Pooh Black and Balrog are Daisuke Amaya's version of stickmen: stock characters that are easy to draw.
By the way, did anyone notice how the character in Pixel's new RPG Soaprun looks like Doctor Gero, Nurse Hasumi and Balrog all at the same time? IT'S WEIRD, AMIRITE?

Also, Minute, I like your theory, but the toaster's name was obviously Ballos, and it was actually a round waffle iron. How many other Cave Story characters are based on kitchen appliances? Well, Kanpachi's named after seafood. That's close.
You guys think Pixel might be kinda fat?

Most of the creatures that Pixel draws aren't square though. I'm not sure if Balrog can be considered a stock character since he keeps showing up during the storyline.

We'll never know if Pixel is fat unless we have a pic. Just because someone likes to eat seafood doesn't mean they're fat.

Pixel has black hair; that dude's is brown.
Also, Pixel is definitely not fat. Oh well. I still think he has an obsession with food or something.

Maybe Balrog looks like a Genesis cartridge?

Now, what makes it to where Balrog can't be both a toaster and a suitcase?

My toaster does not work as a suitcase. I could put toast inside my suitcase though.

But Balrog is never shown to be holding toast or suitcase items, or any other items at all.

Balrog was carrying missiles. Since he is a giant suitcase, that is totally plausible.

What if Balrog thought he was also part toaster? Don't the missles he shoots come from the top of his head? That would mean he either 1)shoots his missles from a hidden missle launcher on his side, 2)he shoots them through his mouth, or 3)they come out through some hidden toaster slots.

One seems like it could be true, two is disturbing, and three is a possibility.

At the end of the game, Quote and Curly sit on top of Balrog's head. Doesn't seem like something you'd do on a toaster. Balrog shoots missiles from a hidden missile launcher on his side (maybe his armpits). I believe there's some fanart depicting that.

A robot on top of a toaster would electrocute.

Wait a minute, it's a trick! Don't do it!

As long as the toaster isn't actively toasting, then there shouldn't be a problem.

And who said Balrog's toaster slots were on the top of his head? There are different types of toasters, you know.

If he were a toaster, he would be an old-fashioned upright two-slot toaster like in the cartoons, as per his shape.

He is not, however.

Sad Story...
I can't believe Balrog was based off of...of soap!!
Never saw it coming....

Does this mean this thread's going to be closed, or will we talk about his newly discovered origin...?
