You're right.
Hmm...maybe Balrog is an evolved form of whatever the hell Pooh Black and Balrog is. Pooh Black is dead after all, so he never had a chance to evolve to having a handle.

Balrog doesn't have a handle. This was proven to be the case a long time ago. It was just an optical illusion from balrog standing in front of the door in the first fight because the very top of the door could be seen above balrog's head, which gave the illusion of it being a handle.

I repeat:
THERE IS NO HANDLE.

He'd make a good alarm clock if his eyes turned...
He keeps moving up and down until you press the snooze button! Like those alarm clocks that run away from you or make noise by stomping their feet.

Balrog 2 has bubble-like projectiles, and Pooh Black has a bubble shield.

Balrog the Enigma

When half his HPs or something near that are gone, the Balrog in Grasstown changes tactics; he'll hop towards the player, stop, shoot 3 slow moving bubbles, and then repeat.
This is also seen in the unused Balrog entity, which does pretty much the exact same thing from the start, but I think there were some minor damage differences.

Actually he isn't. His design is just "based on" a bar of soap.

I say he could be one of those toiletry suitcasey things, which he can store himself in (because he is soap) to get through the metal detectors at airports (because he is a robotic soap).
