I'm also making an effort to archive the streams on youtube, as a small part of the intent of streaming these mods was to get gameplay footage of them out there.
I was slacking a bit on actually uploading these but we're back on schedule now.

I will never be able to resist the temptation of toying with this game's engine.

I guess to be fair this is less messig with the engine itself and more just performing trick to seemingly stretch the possibilities.

Why am I still occasionally afflicted with cursed Cave Story modding ideas when I should just work on a real game instead.

But what if, cursed video game ideas?
Hey, I took a few old modding stuff from my old laptop and decided to see if there's anything worth sharing that i might've not released yet, and put it in a zip with some notes added. It's not much, but it includes my testing mod, an unfinished update of Metronari and it's cancelled sequel and some other small things, hope there's something in there that might interest someone. Semi-related and on the thought now that I looked through my old stuff and felt nostalgic; I kinda wish I could use my fancy map/tsc knowledge to either make a good experience or do something for the modding community, but I'm not really sure how.

Live a Live and Atelier Sophie 2 were the best games this year and I refuse to accept otherwise

Been very into the Atelier series recently, I should've done this way earlier.

It all started with curiously looking at Sophie 2 and that game captured me so hard that I immediately bought the Mysterious trilogy.

Discord is great and all but I start to feel like it's awtul for communities, but to be fair I never really joined a large public server myself.
Thinking about joining them terrifies me because you just don't know what's on the other side.

Which is why I think Discord sucks, and why I don't personally enforce those things on my own server. It really only gets worse with larger servers that make you have to pass certain requirements just to see things.

Yeah, I agree. Discord is great for private messages and voice calls, but I don't like public servers at all. And now that you mention it, you really can't do much lurking on Discord, can you? It's like if almost every forum ever required you to make an account and post in The sickeningly cheerful say hello, introduce yourself; now where's my cookie? topic. to see any posts at all. And when reading messages in public servers, I always have this weird paranoia that I'll accidentally press Enter and send some gibberish message to a random channel. Also, forums feel way easier to keep up with in general, since threads properly segment each "conversation."
Remembering my old horrible mods and I hate(?) all of them

I take pride in my weird concepts and thats about it.
Pushing the limits of what one can do without diving too deep into ASM hacking still remains a fun challenge to me and especially is one that I can't really find myself doing in the regular programming of nowadays.

if it wasn't for the past mods, the future ones likely would not have come into existence
they surely served their role as... uh... experience givers! and cringe holders!
but that's how the learning process goes, i suppose

I'm truly ashamed of my old mods because one, they completely and utterly suck. And two, people spent time playing them that they will never get back.
I should finish that tiny mod I said I started but I found myself starting to make an original game instead oops

How do people feel about (mostly) vanilla mods nowadays
    Serri
    Serri
Wow that's, actually really spot on there, BLink. It would be nice to see good vanilla mods again though, best to start by doing it oneself ;)

I think with how mods with hacks, hack tools, and new engines become more and more impressive, it allows people to try new things and create more unique experiences. We've seen CSBDs and the like, sequel mods, and others doing more unique ideas in Cave Editor and Booster's Lab' but with these new tools modders can share mods and even new hacks and demos.

The time to be a modder has been easier than ever, especially if you want to make something new and unique that stands out.

I don't think vanilla modding is on it's way out or anything, I see it as simply evolving; it's cool to see what people can do with the basics, but I personally find it vastly more interested to see what we haven't been shown before! Especially with mod accessible hacks and tools.
