  • Uhh, you know... Better stop posting at the open-source mods thread. It is not going to end well for you. Just saying.

I'm afraid that same religion doesn't guarantee a successful friendship. There are so many other humanly factors I cannot even begin.

You're a much better new user than most, Bombchu. The problem is that this community has gotten so prejudiced against the immature behavior of most new members that some established users here don't always know a competent new user when they see one. Often times when someone posts showing a characteristic that vaguely resembles that of a new member, it incites in the veterans a feeling of annoyance built up by generations of twelve-year-olds who don't know how to forum. I'm not saying you haven't had your areas of error, but those who have chewed you out are just as much if not more at fault for picking a fight and pretending that you're the one being hostile while claiming that they're not being hostile at all.

I'm afraid that you're the kind of good new user here that some people here aren't capable of recognizing. Either they're in denial that you're cool, or won't admit it, and the only people who can see you through an unclouded lens are other new members who haven't been drowned in a sea of twelve-year-olds, or other established users who've managed to resist getting sucked into "the machine."

Ultimately, the best way to form somewhat of a truce with the machine is to adjust the way you post such that it doesn't disturb the natural order of these forums. All you have to do to make this adjustment is acknowledge the problem, want it to be solved, and keep this on your mind. Then wait. Over time, you'll subconsciously make the necessary transition without negatively changing yourself as a person. This takes longer for some than it does for others. I can't really describe what kind of mental adjustment needs to be made, because this is different for each person. It's the kind of thing that comes naturally.

You're a much better user than some people have credited you for, Bombchu. The best advice I can give for the immediate future is don't listen to people calling you an idiot, but be open-minded to the attempts at constructive advice concealed in their posts. Keep being the bigger man like you have been, and over time, you'll get attacked less and less, and more and more users will look up to you.

I keep forgetting that this is a different forum then that I'm use to.
    [Sob_Story]
About two years ago I started getting into forums, I made friends on a website and eventually (because I made a donation) got the "Elite" position, the highest available to non-staff members, I was still kind of new, only 6 months along and about 900 posts.
after getting this position, I soon saw all the corruption in the special elete forums that I now had acess to.
Basically I outraged at all the crude humor there, [the site has rules against it] and told them in a not-so-nice way that
    they are tyrants.

I INSTANTLY lost all my Trust points in was at like -15 by the time the ordeal was over, (Basically half of the staff was against me at that point, and half was for me, but the half that was for me stayed in their bomb shelters and gave me some TP so I wasn't hit as bad.) I ended up being right, but at what cost.
my friends that were under Elite and those 12 year olds that thought I was cool kept asking me why I was at -10 TP. They said judging by my post quality I was really a nice guy.

For 6 months I had to put up with a -15 TP score everywhere I went, until the TP system was revamped and everyone reset to 0. (except elite and higher).

Dunc just reminded me of the 20 users with the same attitude that took my TP away and I'm not mad at him, I'm really mad at those guys and letting it out on him.

Basically everyone either hates me, or thinks I'm cool for what I've done.
It really sucked when I had -10 on my score though, it just hurt.

I'll keep this in mind. thank you.

And now you know why we don't have a reputation system. D:

I know that, we just need to be reminded when we do dumb things. (including me.)

Wanna chat on steam sometime instead of yelling at each other?

I decided to make a new avatar loosely based on Itho's face-pic.

I was aiming for a guy with glasses where you couldn't see his eyes you know...

After a night sleep he does look a little strange.
I need inspiration to work harder at Sue's Story.

    Exact Same with Cavern Tale...

I have great ideas for some parts... But for others it feels like I'm trying to cram cheap jokes into boring gameplay...
I really want to finish it because the finale ideas are great, but the middle part has gotten stale to me. :C

You should know just from a random person who watched a demo play through that while I knew it was a demo and things will change, I was just as engrossed in the story as I was with the original cave story. Btw, if you would like someone to proofread scripts I'd be happy to help if you need it. You're doing great and I loved the demo. <img src='http://www.cavestory.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/grin2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Thank you. Script isn't the problem really, it making all the stuff and the sheer amount of time I have to put into it just to get a smoothly animating cut-scene. And to save NPC space I have to resort to <SMP's making things harder.

and I also can't get my custom TSC commands to work...It just piles up on you, especially when you tell your best friend that your releasing the game in three days when that's next to impossible at this point. :/

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the demo.
How did you install the shotgun hack? When i try to install it with Doukutsu Assembler, i get an error in line 36, something with "keypressed"
I have a link to an MP3 download of the org soundtrack that I did in the description of the YouTube video, can you use that instead?

sadly no. but I can go without it

    thanks anyways.
You always censor quotes if they are profane

    because,

    I don't support profanity.
you wouldn't copy/paste something you don't stand up for, would you?
even if it's in a quote.

And would it be to much to ask that you don't cuss on my profile please?
    S
    Slither
I wouldn't really give a...I wouldn't really care at all and I would still leave the thing in the quote, it's not like I'm the one saying it

Actually, it really is a lot to ask that he doesn't "cuss" (oh my god that word is so twelve) on your profile, as it is also on his profile and he has every right to swear (for fuck's sake at least use a less retarded-sounding word) on his own profile.

Now Bombchu, I'm going to talk to you here. I'm a devout Catholic. I go to church ever Sunday, I'm actually a part of its community, I'm an important part of several Catholic youth groups in my hometown...
However. This doesn't mean I go around with that godawful signature. There are other ways to go about this that won't cause this sort of conversation. Like my old signature, Accept Jesus as your Savior and win a free PSP. That showcased my Catholicism while also being hilarious. Try and do that sort of thing, rather than the honestly godawful 97% thing.

Also I swear every time I see it it is always generation 28
