Video clips are an important part of music. What music videos are your favourite and why? The emphasis is not on the music, but on the video itself and how it tells a message.


I, for example, like to give meaning to video clips. ^Meaning:

humanity has fallen from heaven when he is indulging in evil things and is blinded by ignorance (blindfold, ropes). When he realizes his true nature, love, etc. light dawns (blindfold removed, removes the ropes). The history movie shows that this process is going on everyday through history and shapes it. It is our responsibility and destiny to move towards to good. The building process you see is the building of a better you and a better world.

The meaning you give may be different from what the author intended, but your interpretion may mean more to you.

 

I know I'm not the original poster, but I can't help but question why this thread that specifically asks about the video component of music videos would be merged with a generic YouTube one. Heh, oh well.

Anyways, I'm not big on giving meaning to video clips, but there are some artists out there who make some pretty interesting music videos that are more emphasised on visuals than they are audio. One I like in particular is OK Go. I didn't really remember their music, but their music videos are so elaborately choreographed, and it's pretty cool to watch. These are a couple I remember:

Koyaanisqatsi (Life Out of Balance), is a 1982 film directed by Godfrey Reggio with music composed by Philip Glass. The trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV resembles the style of the film, featuring different shots of the fictional Liberty City, with the track Pruit Igoe by Philip Glass in the background. The Game Society Pimps are funny but they make me lose brain cells so I only watch "Skyrim for Pimps" on occasion.

 

With the eternal wish for a Cave Story anime being bumped, seems like a good excuse to post a few neat fan animations I've seen recently by the driven (and/or paid) variety.
