It just seems to make sence to me cause he never uses his wings till the curse is broken.
Maybe it's to stop him from running away from the crown's owner? It's wierd that he never uses them if he had them all along. I keep saying this but if the crown had the effect that made misery look like a child even though she's supposably incredibly old but in the credits you see her looking older and much taller like all the other humans only after the curse is broken. And she can't have been looking young because of some magic cause Jenka would be a lot older and she actually looks like it.

Personal antigravity field, to be exact. He has an antigravity generator built inside his body (it's just above the missile holder), which he uses whenever he wants to fly (or make one of his signature high jumps, for that matter). When turned on, the field makes the gravity sorta not affect him (just like in space) and he uses his little wings only to "steer", as they're too small to actually lift him on their own.
