Balrog isn't Jenka's nephew, that's for sure. It was just a term of endearment that Balrog used in the NICALiS translation. This has been discussed before.

No. He has more personality than any character in the game, and therefore must be a living, breathing, bar of soap.

 

pixel said he was inspired by a bar of soap, but i think he's a robot (or android or cyborg...[i know there's a difference but I'm not going to get into that]or whatever you want to call him) he was a human and a friend of misery (kinda like a sister she'd bully him but they'd still be friends) balrog got killed by ballos in a fit of rage when misery made balos make the demon crown. balrog got rebuilt (kinda like robocop) by someone (don't ask me who). jenka, ballos, and misery have magic so it explains why they are still alive, but balrog lives because he is a robot (and gets yearly maintenance from his local car machanic)

I believe Balrog is a bar of soap mutated by Misery. Daisuke Amaya even said he based Balrog off of a bar of soap. I dont want to sound like a broken record but it's true

Maybe he is just a creature from the island? There are the doctor and nurse from the labrinth, along with puu black. Maybe they are all part of the same species, only balrog and puu black are bigger.
