And there are more than one Cthulthu, this is evident in both the WiiWare credits and in grasstown/bushlands where there are two on the exact same map as each other.

I have no idea what the cthulu are. Cthulu are sadistic sometimes: one says smt like this to Quote: "run along while u have fuel...hehe..." and one@the plantation says he liked Curly better when she had amnesia... Not nice.

Cthulu are actually interdimensional pizza delivery dudes (yes plural) who, when Lowell warped them with his void tear thingy, got amnesia, wandered around Japan for a while, found their way to Pixel's house, and asked that he give them a home. Pixel made Cave Story, then used iconium (don't worry if you don't get the refrence, you wouldn't... it's magic ink that makes your drawings real but only for 2.5 minutes or so) as ink for his printer and printed off a picture of a Teleporter, and warped them all to various locations in Cave Story. But when they landed, they got amnesia again and could only remember one blindingly obvious thing from the briefing about the island Pixel gave them, and they just kept spouting that for millenia until Pixel got around to publishing the game, whereupon Quote wakes up and you know the rest.

Plus, Ctulhu is actually an evil octopus thing that can end the world fully. Truthfully, I was really sorta confused because of the name overlap when I went to the abode in egg corridor.

That bothers me a bit. "An"? The credits of Cave Story mentions them as plural.
Now, what I'm wondering is... the Chutlhu right in front of Santa's house. Why does neither Santa or that Chutlhu mention the other? Not even a "I tried asking that green guy for help but he just told me not to stand below a Power Critter"?

Of course, wearing green, the Chutlhu might have looked like a clump of grass.

Cthulhu is a giant sea monster/demon/god/alien thought up by the author H. P. Lovecraft. Cthulhu is the embodiment of fear and panic, he destroys minds just by being around, and has absolutely no relation to the guy in a frog suit. Like Balrog, he may have been named after a fictional (mythological?) being, or it might have been a translation goof.
