Well, they show that Samus is a girl, which would be spoilers for, ya' know, anyone who didn't know a thing about the series.

So yeah, that might be a problem.

I don't think that Quote's name is going to be an issue. They show Zelda turn into Shiek, and that was the big plot twist in Ocarina of Time. As for the question of whether players would recognise him, the same can be said about Lucas and R.O.B. So I don't think it would be that impossible for an appearance.

Don't forget about Fire Emblem in Melee guys. Y'all might know how obscure the franchise was until then. Still fairly obscure over here in the US...:muscledoc:

And, I'm sure they could name him Robot or Quote. I'm sure a lot of things could work.

1. Fire Emblem is still Nintendo. It is much eaisier for an obscure Nintendo game to get in than a 3rd party game.
2. If they called him robot, then people would get him confused with R.O.B.

Well, how many people actually know Cave Story? We do, but it's not like a worldwide gaming miracle, it's a game that only a few of us on Earth know about.
My opinion.

Shigeru Miyamoto is the boss-man. He saw the Ice climbers and Olimar in the game. Neither were vaguely famous before their appearence. Lucas and Mr game and watch are REALLY pushing it. Then theres ROB of course. There were 3 versions of fox for the sake of starfox fanservice, fox, falco and wolf.

I'm pretty sure he put in Olimar and ROB because he wanted to. Pikmin was a game he felt very strongly about and ROB was the only reason America bought his NES at first, until they knew it wasnt just another atari.

Point is, it isnt just popularity that sees a character in. They just need to want to include them for some reason. So someone send Shigeru a 3DS with a copy of cave story. I'd say he probably already has it, and already likes it, because it is very much an homage to his kind of games.

Quote would need to use his knife as an actual melee weapon, because he's lacking in that respect. Balrog could certainly be an assist trophy, dropping in for a surprise HUZZAH and smashing everyone nearby away.

Frankly i'm more concerned about Klonoa being included. That series definetly needs more love and exposure. (And hell if Namco wants a mascot in smash bros, Klonoa would work alot better than that weird Pac-man thign with arms and legs)

It would be pretty awesome, If like, Balrog, Quote and curly was in SSB,I mean, if a sega chara can get in the game, surely they can, there final smashes could be:
Curly Brace: a load of mimga children go on a rampsge, smashing any other charas out of the arena
Balrog: a mega smash, flatening any one who is unlucky anoth to be under his fat ass!!
Quote: gets a giant spur gun, and alows you to shoot lazers that smash out oponents, you are able to do this for a short amount of time, so get shooting!
yeah, but Cave story charas being in SSB is as likely as shoop da whoop being on it, sooo...yeah -3-'

Balrog should be a trophy. I would personally like to see a red flower as his final smash. All charecters could have enraged forms, and anyone who ate a red flower would run around crazily for 10 seconds, then fall flat on the ground and take 50%.

Now this is my opinion but I'd love to see Quote as a playable character in a Smash Bros. game mostly because I want to see what happens when he's pitted against someone like Link. But what about YOU? Would you like to see Quote in a Smash Bros. game?
