Every once in a while I have dreams involving a sprawling city, The details and feel change between dreams but given that I have never seen its boundaries, it is entirely possible that the varied properties are merely common to different parts of the city. Dreams that take place within the city often deprive me of the vast majority of my dream powers. Common landmarks include:
The University:
An immense building containing multitudes. Long hallways and staircases behind locked doors are common to this place. It always seems oddly empty, though it is possible that I have only ever been within it during its off hours. Many of the university's doors lead to vast labs containing immense contraptions of untold purpose.
The university often has several sub-basement levels, many of which lead to other parts of the city.
The Travel station:
Glass rails and escalators galore, The open interior of this place makes it easy to see or be seen by someone, but nearly impossible to find a path to them. Coincidentally, I always seem to find myself there while either looking for or looking to escape from someone. The Travel station, though an exaggerated fusion of the airports I have been to throughout my life, has no airplanes as far as I can tell. Or buses for that matter.
The Theater
Similar to the layout of the travel station, but with more lush red carpeting and fancy chandeliers, The viewing rooms put I-Max to shame. For whatever reason I never seem to pay for my ticket and always find myself fleeing security in the place.
The Unfinished District
Skyscrapers at max height, with their floors installed, but oddly lacking walls and windows, dot the landscape. This is where stuff goes down after a long chase (often with the same persistent security guards from the theater. Seriously, what do they pay those guys?). Parkour is apparently the only dream power I retain in the city, and this place is perfect for it. Jumping from building to building is the best way to get around here.
The Streets
I can only describe the road system here as a non-euclidean Boston with no roadsigns. Fortunately I never actually have to drive on it. I just walk everywhere.
The city is always gloomy (as are most of my dreams), My most common recurring enemy aside from the security of the various establishments is a yellow haired duplicate of myself that possesses most of my dream powers. Running into him more or less feels like running into the SA-X in Metroid Fusion. RUN AWAY.
